Wrxatlanta suck
I've lived all over GA. Stick to 400 and north of exit 8. Yes it's the same here with 25 years exemption. You can register your car outside the 13 emissions counties to get around that or get it tuned and turned off. :-)

Besides Road Atlanta, are there any motorsports venues near the metro area?

NICE! I discovered karting a few years back and it's easily the cheapest way on track. Good to know there are facilities nearby!

How far are Mercedes/Porsche from the Metro area, or are they close? If I move down there I'd like to stay in the automotive/OEM world and those would be my top two choices.

I've grown up in Gainesville, GA more specifically Hall County and isn't emission regulated (thank god). The tax is a bit of a pain, but not too much a hassle. Being an hour north of ATL is great, it makes access to the city great and a quick trip for a gorgeous drive in the mountains. I haven't gotten too into my local Subie scene but it does seem to be prevalent. If you don't mind the heat and humidity, it's a pretty great state.

Howdy,
I see in two years you still haven't made the move, and I'm gonna be the one to advise against it. In fact, I'd trade locales with you in a heartbeat! I've remained in the Southeast all my life. And, I lived outside the perimeter, on the Southwest side of Atlanta, throughout the '90s. In my teens and early twenties it was great. I live in Savannah, now, and swear off Atlanta every time I go up there. Traffic is abhorrent. Also, while I'm sure you're familiar with humidity, add in our heat, and you're left with one thing. Misery. Frankly, the only southern states that I'd recommend someone move to would be North Carolina or Tennessee. North Georgia is passable, if you can find adequate employment. If you think beach life could be your thing, there are many nice parts of Florida. However, always remember, the Atlantic coast is pretty crap compared to the Gulf coast. Sorry to be so discouraging, but the Southeast is worlds different than the PNW. |

Mid-summer visit is in the plans, probably make a few trips out there before making a decision one way or the other. |

Atlanta is Georgia
Atlanta has nearly taken over the state of Georgia.
Augusta and Savannah are the only two cities left that aren't connected to Atlanta directly. Going from North Atlanta to South Atlanta can take all day sometimes. But, you can also get that lucky in 20 other major American cities. Atlanta is centrally located to just about every other major state or city in the southeast. The airport will get you everywhere else! |

Kennesaw is a very safe and clean area. They have excellent school and KSU, which is an excellent university. You deal with some traffic, but not quite the monster traffic just south of Kennesaw. You will find all sorts of restaurant and stores, so avoiding going into the perimeter is easy. Woodstock is also a very nice area not far from Kennesaw.

I live in Dallas about 15 minutes away from Kennesaw it’s a great little city. Plus living there puts you closer to stores and other conveniences.

I know Delta, Porsche and Mercedes all operate out of the area, but what are some other solid employers in the metro area? (I work for an OEM, so something in that field would be an easy transition.)
