with 2 extra drive wheels and a 48hp advantage id certainly hope it would. you are missing the point though. vw's dsg is quicker than the manual. hondas cvt performs quite good. subarus cvt slows the car down a considerable amount.

Lighter car with LSD. CVT WRX and Ascent are actually pretty quick. A 2.0T Accord does not use a CVT transmission. It is a 10 speed slush box.

actually the golf r manual is quicker.

and no mention of the dsg golf r vs wrx cvt differences? a full second 0-60 and 1.3 seconds quicker in the 1/4 mile. stock. start modding and the gap grows by a huge margin. good luck getting a wrx into the 11's with just a downpipe and flash.

name a single supercar or performance car with a cvt. you cant because nobody uses them. they neuter performance and arent durable. if subaru would drop the cvt's and use a 8 speed planetary automatic the cars would flat out perform better.

actually in those particular tests it was not. Start modding and get that TD1 flag with a blown IS38.

Only in the most narrow minded sense in the real world does that make any sense.

In no world is it as important as judgement to a driver.

Legacy is not a performance car. Subaru CVT is pretty good in the WRX and it will be even better in the Legacy judging by the Ascent.

i hope so. the current gen legacy even with the 3.6 is a dog. the ascent certainly performs on par with the competition. if the turbo legacy does 0-60 in the 5's and the 1/4 in the mid 14's or better id be happy with that.

I think it will. We are basically looking at the Ascent powertrain with less weight.

Yep, I bought my red Ď05 LGT brand sparky new. I wonder if itís that same exact color? I then made the mistake of test driving a 6MT 2011? LGT. What a barge that thing was. Hopefully this is not that.

Why the hell are we talking about PERFORMANCE NUMBERS for a LEGACY? Or even a CVT WRX? A CVT in a Subaru isn't meant to perform above standard. It's meant to keep the car at a set standard.

And a WRX getting performance numbers anywhere close to a Golf R is amusing. It just makes the WRX look more like a bargain.

The Legacy XT will be nice because you know there will be performance parts for it. Especially STI parts.

How aggressive were you able to get? We were allowed to drive them in anger back to back(2009v2010) at the now named Utah Motorsports Campus. LOVED the 2010 versus the 2009. Much more flat around the turns and that low mount turbo.....nice. Acceleration was sooo much better.

Dang do I miss those type of training events.

Have you foreseen this? I thought SGP was designed for future EVs, but...

Peace,

Greg

I always think JDM STI parts first. It's very, very, very rare that SOA has ANY parts that Japan hasn't thought up first.

It’s really too bad they don’t replace the cvt with an automatic now that they are parts sharing with Toyota. It could be faster, much better driving experience and probably even get better fuel economy if tuned for it. I guess their cvt must be super cheap to build...

Can we expect COBB AP goodness for this vehicle quickly? ‘14 FXT took over a year for support. Does the Ascent have any COBB support yet?
