Default Montana: One Step Closer to the Stone Age

This is pretty interesting, rather old, old school. (I searched)
Interesting read as a whole.

CN-Spear chuck'n in Montana

In defense of the spear, Atlatl Bob offers governor a demonstration

Sen. Greg Hinkle's Senate Bill 112 to allow spear hunting does not specifically name the atlatl. But in testimony, Hinkle, R-Thompson Falls, said the atlatl falls squarely under his bill.

And while spear hunting is not expressly prohibited by the Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks, it is not allowed, either.

Hinkle's bill has gotten a lot of grief from liberal commentators who think it only confirms what they've thought all along: Conservatives want to take Montana back to the Stone Age

"It's a highly effective weapon," he said. "If it were not a highly effective weapon, we would have probably gone extinct or become vegetarians.
"It took us from the role of scavenger, opportunist hunters to big game hunters," he said

The governor has not taken an official stance on the spear bill, Schweitzer spokeswoman Sarah Elliott said, but "the primary purpose of this session should be about creating jobs, lowering taxes and funding education not wasting time on frivolous legislation." Elliott also said an atlatl demonstration "probably won't be necessary."
