"The cause of the fire was not immediately known, but crews were initially sent to the area to rescue a motorist whose vehicle had veered off a road and rolled down an embankment. The driver was taken to County-USC Medical Center with moderate injuries, including neck and head pain, a dispatcher said."

LOS ANGELES - Firefighters were still fighting Wednesday to fully contain a fire that scorched about 85 acres of tinder-dry brush in the Hacienda Heights area after a new, limited-edition Mustang tumbled about 100 feet down a hillside and crashed in a gully. With the blaze 75 percent contained, full containment could be declared later Wednesday.
The fire prompted the evacuations of about 40 homes on Tuesday, but residents were allowed to return to their dwellings by 8 p.m., said Los Angeles County Fire Department Capt. Mike Brown.
No injuries were reported among residents. However, a firefighter was taken to a hospital suffering from heat exhaustion, the Los Angeles Times reported.
Some 25 fire engines remained in the 4000 block of Turnbull Canyon Road overnight to battle the blaze, said county fire Dispatch Supervisor Andre Gougis.
The fire broke out at about 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Hacienda Heights foothills, drawing some 300 firefighters supported by five water-dropping helicopters.
It coincided with a Red Flag Warning that the National Weather Service had issued to denote the risk of wildfire in mountain and forest areas as a result of high heat and single-digit humidity levels. The warning is scheduled to expire at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Authorities told The Times that the fire was ignited by a spark from a high-powered 2008 Ford Shelby that veered off the pavement, overturned and tumbled down a hillside into a gully while traveling on an isolated stretch of Turnbull Canyon Road.
Joe Zizi, a California Highway Patrol spokesman, identified the driver as Mark Charles Canerdy, 53, of Whittier, according to The Times and the San Gabriel Valley Tribune.
Zizi said officers are continuing to investigate the cause of the single- car accident, but added that Canerdy acknowledged he was driving at "a high rate of speed" on the winding road.
Canerdy was evaluated by officers and determined not to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol, Zizi said, and he was not arrested.
Authorities said Canerdy pulled himself from the car but was later taken to a hospital complaining of head, neck and back pain.
As the flames advanced, fire commanders began evacuating residents from homes along Skyline Drive near Turnbull Canyon on Tuesday, county fire Inspector Sam Padilla said. But no home was damaged, and by 8 p.m. Tuesday, evacuated residents were allowed back into their homes.
Turnbull Canyon Road remained closed between Alta Road on the west to Beverly Hills Road on the east, except to residents, Brown said.

Its funny, you can be over 50, drive a shelby, run it off the road, start a fire and not get arrested

Yup! had it been an import car, that poor fool would have been arrested most likely as well as cited for non-carb approved parts on the vehicle. Just because he wasn't under the influence of any substances, he was probably still speeding in his "High-powered 2008 Ford Shelby". He should have kept it on the freeway.

Franco,
The Dec. speedtrial event, are the I-club guys doing this one?

He also said he would drive one if he was attracted to his sister.
