![]() Update!
I’ve been wildly busy working away on this thing to get it on the road. Which is why I haven’t updated in a while. Since the last post I built my exhaust, which is a full 4” oval system with single straight through muffler. Also built my wasetegate dump tube setup to come up through my turbo manifold and out of the hood. Both turned out exactly how I imagined! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Then I made my catch can/rad overflow combo. Also turned out nicely. Internally baffled and draws vacuum from intake. ![]() ![]() Then we powder coated my intake manifold in a wild honeycomb pattern! ![]() Finally it was time modify the Haltech harness and to run the harness in the car. Naturally there was some trouble shooting along the way. Got it done tho! Then came the glorious first start. 1 year and 2 days after my EJ exploded, the 2jz came to life. Now I’m just starting to break in the drive train with easy driving around town. Low load and under 4500rpm. Good lord does it sound wild though!!!! It’s going to be an absolute beast once tuned. The idle is mean and while driving the exhaust note is very smooth. Likely from the manifold design. Things I’ve noticed while driving so far... -doesn’t feel any different in the steering than before -the triple disc clutch is incredibly streetable. Amazed really -the t56 magnum gearing with the 4.30 rear gears is spot on. -and the 2jz just feels like it wants to go!!!! WOT is going to be right naughty Just waiting on my BTI dash to arrive in about a week and then that’s basically it for parts. I do have a vibration at 120km/h but I’ll be diagnosing that tonight. Also won a few awards at the Driven show which was very cool! If all goes well the tune will be later in August. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

![]() That oval 4” is amazing!!! Any photos of it on from behind and under the car? That intake manifold powder is top notch! And the ewg out the hood should be pretty wild at wot too
![]() Steering feels good, your good to go! Hand built, nothing feels better. You know the ins and outs of the whole setup. Congrats man, awesome job and quality work. |

![]() Cool, I'm thinking about the vibrant Hd clamps which are similar to the alpha locs. One less failure point, because who likes tracking down boost leaks from couplers, right?
I bet that was a nice taste of what's to come. The sounds from the 2jz paired with that header and 4" must be magnificent. |

![]() Update:
Cars been running very well. Have just been doing some Etuning with Jimmy at Vex and have it to 15 psi and going to leave it there until spring. Winter is near and I just want to drive and enjoy it. That being said, the car feels incredibly strong and pulls quite hard. It’s going to be wild when we get it up to 30+ psi. Sounds nuts too. I post videos and pics on IG all the time. Follow there to see them. Or follow our YouTube for videos too. I’ll be doing some walkarounds and explanation videos. IG: @2jz_lelandsti YouTube: Ion Digital Here’s the link to our recent mini vid! And here’s a couple pics. ![]() ![]() |

![]() Very cool! How's traction at 15psi?
Seen your car on the 1320 vid Instagram page today. Amazing work you have done here, glad to see you getting recognition for it bro! |

It hooks pretty good but does crack them loose at the top of 2nd gear. It’s fun haha. I’ll eventually get a proper wheel setup geared for traction (15’s with ET streets should do), but for now I don’t mind skating a bit! With launch control it little just lights them up haha! Thx! Ya I was pretty excited to see them post it. |

Nice! I love wild builds. Beautiful powdercoating work. Great engine/trans combo. I really wish though that that exhaust tip/muffler were oval as well. There is just something cool and unique about that oval look. Think it could happen? Maybe if you cut apart and welded the muffler? ![]() (BTW that Ferrari build with the welding rod/pool noodle headers mentioned earlier in this thread is another insane project -- he cut and welded his engine heads to make them fit.) |

![]() Hey I am amazed it this build HOLY @#$% Bro!!! Blows me away esp since I can relate, I have an 05 STI AND a 2JAY AND a 94 Supra roller! Ive thought about this idea for a year now!!! Your FAB work in the intake and exhaust IS INCREDIBLE DUDE!!! What Engine Harness id you use!? I noticed the PCV line running behind the Cam gears where the OEM 2JZ Harness would run! Just curious, I'd love to have such a clean harness for my 2Jay!!!
