I thought all Type-R rear diffs are R180? How did you have a R160?

The ALL US and JDM non sti have r160 diff
some jdm sti have r160 diff(earlier years).. except the v5/6 R/RAs .. The reason why i mention is that the R180 diff was equipped with 190mm Ebrakes while the r160 has the 170mm ebrakes. 06/07 was equipped with 4/2 pot but the rears are 170mm ebrakes.. hence for a type R/RA.. those rotor would not work. u will see what im saying when its time for u to replace ur brakes |

Guess what got shipped out today!?! Oh yeah! I know u were telling me about the tow truck having to take it off and what not, but I was contemplating renting a forklift to take it off of the truck. I can rent one for $300/day and I'd be able to move it around and place it how and where I want w/o having to rush for the tow truck driver to do it. I'm guessing its about $100 for the tow truck, and with him they have to wench it on to the tow truck from the shipping truck, right? And then lower the bed down and slide it off? You did it that way, how much of a hassle was it to get it off, and then move it around after it was unloaded? And if you had to do it again, how would you go about it?
All I know is that I'm ready for this damn thing to get here. Seems like I've been just talking about it for too long. |

I have a large garage i had it placed in its own bay and i jacked it up with bricks to get under it and broke it down in place until it was gone. it was easy for my tow truck drive to lower it in so id say yeah id do it again

What's up AB!?! Where you at with the firewall? Have you got the suspension back from powder coating? I wanna see how the pink turned out! I'd like to do it as well, but I may just spaint it cherry blossom red so that everything matches the lat links and control arms. My clip should arrive tomorrow! Super eFFn stoked! I'll post pics, maybe a video of everything after its unloaded. I had to take the Fay off just to be here when it arrives, lame. Holler!!!

Yo I got my clip today! Long time coming for sure. They wer s'pose to call 30min ahead of time so that I could be ready, but the driver just showed up unannounced. I lucked out and had a big forklift to unload the skids. It's raining so damn hard here in Portland, that I havent even been able to check everything out. Ofcourse I had to peep the front end...haha but yeah it kinda sucks not havin a garage. I had to layer a bunch of tarps over the skids. Something sorta eFF'd up happened tho. One of the Trailing Arms fell off the skid somewhere along the way, and not only did just fall off but they ran it over as well! The Mounting Bracket is bent/smashed into the bushing which is eFF'd up! I made sure to take pics and had the driver take note of it, and he wrote it on the Cosignee Copy, so I think they shud have to pay for it, right?
Anyways, what's been goin down man? Hows the "East Coast Type-R lookin?" You must be up to somethin, cuz we haven't heard from you in a minute. Holler when you get a chance, I wanted to ask you a couple things. |

Hey by the way, I started a new Build thread on the Type-RA.com Forum. It's strictly for Type-RA, Type-R and Spec C Imprezas. You should register. Add a little balance, we could use a couple more "Yanks" on the Forum.. hahah cuz its a majority of Brits/UK cats
Here's the link to my build: WelDun1's Ver5 STi Type-R/RA Build And here is my NASIOC BUILD THREAD Same thread,I just copied/pasted from one to the other Last edited by WelDun1; 05-24-2013 at 03:40 PM. |

Hell yeah bro! I know ur stoked now! I'm stoked for u! Just knowing that I have all this to look forward to...lol I'm taking the "drill out the spot welds" route tho, so I'm hoping it'll be little easier, but from what I've seen on RYAN23's thread, it shouldn't be that bad.
So what's the next step? Install dash, then engine tranny, Paint? Or Paint, THEN engine tranny ect... |

Yeah i'm with you I got the red/pink ones just haven't mounted them yet. Make sure when you move the pedal mount that you measure the distance from the top of dash I'm off by a half inch going to heat up and bend it into place. save yourself some headaches.
