Cars with tons of electronics have the worst reliability, being that reliability includes pretty much all problems with the car.

I do agree that cars with lots of electronics are more prone to failure but wouldn't say they have the worst reliability/dependability.
Also, Subaru (probably) packs the least amount of electronics among its competitors. But Impreza definitely packs the most mechanical technologies (AWD, torque vectoring) for sure. |

tbf I'd rather save the $10,000, get an EJ WRX that has a stronger engine, and put the saved money in mods or a hooker.

Haha, you have to go to some real base level cars to avoid electronics. We are already seeing lane departure and assisted braking trickle down to low cost sedans. Not to mention emissions controls and EPA devices. I mean at some point you've got to embrace this stuff old man. |

Congrats!
If it's not too late, I would not get some options. All weather floor mats --> get Weathertech with similar or less money. Cargo tray --> again, Weathertech. Splash guard --> check out Rally Armor. Many Subaru owners tend to go with RA. Will cost you less for sure. My 2cents. Quote:

I was going to get weather tech but price was double the deal price I would get if I got it from Subaru . Also since it's arriving in December when there will be snow and stuff didn't wanna mess up the carpets until the weather techs came out. May end up swapping them out later though it was 100 total for the trunk matts and the floor mats. Never heard of the rally Armour ones :/ if I knew before probably would have. |

First timer here. Total newb. This is my first Subaru.
Yesterday I pre-ordered the 2017 Impreza Sport Sedan in Crystal White Pearl. I cannot wait to get it! I opted out for all the packages because I could care less about the assisted driving and safety features. I did however get the remote start. Though, I've been watching some videos about it and it appears that Subaru's remote start shuts the car OFF upon opening the door. I am currently trying to figure out if this is a thing still and/or if that can be deactivated. |

You can probably cancel the remote start. I think the dealer installs it. Then get an aftermarket system like viper. That would be the only way.

Yes it's still a thing for them. It helps lessen the chance that the car gets stolen while warming up your car. That's why I got it. Did you get push button start on yours? |

Factory installs it when you get the car built. If you signed the build sheet already probably will be a lot of work to get it changed.

In fact, I'm pretty sure it says "dealer installed", or has in the past when you select that option on the online builder.

I'm 1000% sure they do if you get a car built for you they will install it at the factory. My car doesn't include the cost of installation on any accessory including remote start since they are installing it at the factory. I dont even know how this is a discussion... I ordered my car with the same way as the other person in this thread |

It's a discussion because tricknipple and I both have fairly recent Subarus and we've probably both seen lots of orders and know that the remote start is dealer installed. I can contact Subaru of America if you don't believe me. |
