See above. I wouldn't want to build a stock type motor. I am going with something that is proven to work and that works very well. This package is a killer deal and much cheaper than built motor would be. The turn around time will also be less.

I think in the end it is my car, my money. Everyone has different goals. Thanks for everyone's concern.

Here is what I did today. The rest of it will be on the crate; brakes, driveshaft, axles, rear diff, ecu and wiring, intercooler. I will be getting it tomorrow and working on it starting Friday.

Thanks to Navy fed for accepting my loan approval. If I would have known that it was that easy and cheap I would have done it much sooner.

Yeah it will feel that way too, adding the extra weight of the six speed. Small sacrifice to make imo. It should arrive tomorrow and as soon as I wake up on friday afternoon I will be tearing apart the car, would be nice to driving her on Sunday. I will update this thread with pics on each days progress.

Thanks everyone for the support, I am much happier knowing that the car will have a new heart.

What did the motor/tranny end up costing if you don't mind me asking.

It is all the drivetrain not just motor and trans. A little over 7k with tax and shipped. jdmracingmotors.com, they are a vendor on here and sell out of Ashland VA.

I plan on selling all my good parts that are on the car now and should be able to cut that cost in half. The best part is it all should be here tomorrow or friday, minimal downtime.

Thanks evileye. Once this is done, everything on the car will have been replaced except the lateral links in the rear. Should be a nice change.

Finally finished patching up the cat back exhaust on my OBS.

A semi kicked up a big piece of angle iron on 95 and I had the fortune to run it over going about 80, and it destroyed every exhaust gasket, annihilated both cats and deformed a flange.

Needless to say I have been tracing down all the minor leaks an such for almost a month.

After a half stick of steel putty a bunch of new gaskets, some little dohickies to trick the ecu into thinking the cats are still there, the stock axle back from my wrx and an ass load of elbow grease my Outback is actually running better than it was...

Maybe that angle iron was a big heavy blessing in disguise

Not yet I'll take one and post it up a little later. Honestly though, it sounds pretty much the same as stock, maybe with a little tiny bit of grumble.

Once I turn the El header into a Uel header then there should be a nice grumbly sound
