Default Misfiring on all cylinders?

I just got my CEL pulled and its came up with this.
135 O2 sensor heater circuit. Bank 1 sensor 1.

Then also it is misfiring on all 4 cylinders.

The car is a 98 2.5 RS. It does have a proECm aftermarket chip and Greddy EVo II exhuast.

Any ideas on what is causing the problem?

I had the same, they sent the chip out to be reporogrammed. I guess the sensor is set too low and sometimes the rough idle in the WRX sets it off. I had all 4 as missfires too while driving on the highway, neat trick if you could do it.

Also check your coils while you're at it, but if you haven't changed the plugs in awhile, it might be that.

Heres the million dollar question: What is the process used to check the coils?

People say check their coils, but on this type of coil, how do ya do it? And, if you are misfiring on all four cylinders, as I am and have been doing in my car, it probably ain't the coils. Four dying coils in one sitting is just statistically unlikely, but should not be entirely ruled out.

So, how do you check em?

pull out the coil pack, attach a spark plug to it, ground the spark plug.

pull the fuel pump relay and have a buddy of yours start the car, if you see sparks, the coil pack is good, if not, then it sucks.

Also damaged coil packs tend to look damaged, ie, bubbles on the plastic, rust on the wires, frayed wires, and such.

Well, thats just like a plain old spark test. I know how goddamn sensitive the on board diagnostic system is in this car and I have a feeling that deviation from per spec resistance through the coil throw up a red flag. You can get a spark, and still have a coil pack that is merely inefficient.

So, I guess I should rephrase my question. Is there a way to test resistance across the primary, or the wire that causes the field in the coil to collapse, and the secondary, the wire that carries current to the plug itself, circuits.

An answer for this would be in terms of place OHM meter here, get this range of readings in Ohms. I fairly am sure there possibly is some diagnostic procedure along these lines, maybe.

oh you mean using a multimeter? Well sorry, I can't help you there. Typically on cars, the voltage drop test is enough to tell you if there's a faulty component or not, but I have no idea how to test the coil pack, or what their normal readings should be.
