Underseat True Stealth Subwoofer Boxes
Hey Folks!
We have begun sales of our 2004 - 2007 Impreza Underseat True Stealth Subwoofer. Price reduction!!! These now cost $250. These won't be going any lower than this folks! You can view more information on the boxes at our website: http://www.xtremetekaudio.com. They are currently available in 2 colors, Limited Edition Subiefest Bluegreen and Dark Graphite. If you want a different color please PM me and we can talk about color options! There's been a lot of questions asked in other threads, here are the frequently asked ones: What's up with the shape? The the box was CAD designed to be easily producable without having to use a car as a mold and to keep the box prices down (you'll note these boxes are pretty cheap when compared to other Subaru specific boxes). It was also designed to get the most amount of internal volume while not taking up leg room and not blocking the air vents that pump air to the passengers in the rear. We accomplished those goals and the end result is the shape you see. Is a subwoofer included? No, a aubwoofer is not included because Premier has very large-company requirements to become a dealer. What Subwoofer do we recommend? Pioneer Premier shallowmount 8" subwoofer, here is the link: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pn...969765,00.html How deep is the box? The box is a little over 2.5" deep, I'll have to measure when I get home. What is the volume of the box? The box was designed to take up the least amount of cabin space and not impede the use of the underseat vents that port air to the rear-seat passengers. Our goal was to meet the Premier 8" minimum volume requirements, and we did, the internal volume is 0.15 ft^3. What is the box made of / construction / etc? Each box is made of a mix of sizes of MDF. Mainly 1/4" MDF is used with the exception of the Subwoofer mounting face, which is 1/2" MDF. The boxes were designed in solid modeling software to get the maximum volume and keep our self-imposed constraints of not interfering with the cars functions (foot room and underseat vents). After the boxes are put together, they are *hot* coated with what is essentially a truck bed liner, however, we have a custom mixed blend with extra Polyurea to make the boxes stronger, this is how we get away with using 1/4" MDF and not having the box flex. Does the Subwoofer fire down? Yes. Our early design had the subwoofer firing up. This was bad for 2 reasons. First, it made installation a pain for the end user. Installation still requires you to bend the wire clips in all the way. However, if it fired up, you have to zip tie and push your wires all around. Second, it makes the front passenger seat hard to sit in. The subwoofer pounding under the seat firing up can be uncomfortable for some. we now have it firing down, and it'll still give you a butt massage, but it won't be irritating.

Unfortunately, no. The 02/03's have really low seats in comparison to the 04-07 passenger seats.
We will be trying to get a hold of an 02/03 WRX and create a box in the near future. We'll update the community when we have them ready. |

FYI, we can paint them almost any basic color. We painted one flat black for a customer! We could do grey, red, blue, green, whatever you want. Just PM us and we'll get you started on your way to nice bass with a low profile.

Yup, I'm that flat black customer. Nice, nice peice and very helpful vendor with COLORED instructions on a sub install that're better than most install guides for performance based parts! Would suggest for folks who want a good sound system without having to go all out. Can't wait to put my system together. |

As Dashi00 said, no. We'll test the 02/03 boxes when we're done designing them and see if some way they fit in 00/01's. I'm sure the seats couldn't be much lower than 02/03's, so it will hinge on the floor pan area.

As for a review, I sent out boxes to several customers and I'm not sure any have even installed it yet. However, I have a review sample sent out and hopefully he'll post his review sooner rather than later. |

We've run into some problems. Switching to a 10" sub is proving extremely difficult with the limited space of the 02/03 underseat area. In addition to that, we recently upgraded the machine I was using to Vista which didn't work so hot with our CAD software and then it decided to eat our RAID array. So, I'll be going back to WinXP on that box, but we lost my initial design during a Vista BSOD that f'ed up our RAID array, we I have to start over again.
