I too am trying to massage an 05 WRX 2.0 Turbo into a VW based kit car. I have only just bought the engine, and am now looking for an 02 trans to shorten (with flipped internals) to complete my install.
I love this site!
I will be using an aftermarket AC system and compressor, and have a push button starter in the car.
I would like to make this build as bare bones as I can, but also using whatever is already available in the ECU and wiring system. speedo, tach, AC, etc. But obviously I wouldnt need ABS, or Airbag systems. I still need the ECU pin outs for the 05 and 04 ECU's, as well as the wiring schematics.

Any help, or links for exactly what is needed? Im new to this, but not mechanics. I have the overall design of all of this fairly figured out (basics) but any help would be great to simplify things.
Please PM me, or email me. Id like to compile a to do, or a build list in a word document to keep everything organized, then pass this on to future swappers with the conversion perversion.

Thanks

Yaughn

I know this guy has do a few swaps with the later computers. Drop him a line. I think he does a "swap" harness to work with none subaru frames.

Funny that I found this thread wile searching on the net and stumble on a post with a link to my website.

I'm new so I can't start a thread, but I will soon.

I'm now doing a 06 Forester XT conversion, the Turbo harness was my fist.
90% done. I'm sadly missing some relay box that I have to get for the SECONDARY AIR COMBINATION VALVE RELAY 1 & 2.

After that I will see what pin # C26 and C24 need as feedback.

There WILL be a simple way to bypass immobilizer.

As to other ECU wiring conversion from 2002 to 2010 I will glad to help if you have any question. I did 58 Subi conversion so far. Mostly with late engine.

Does it get more complicated with the newer engines, 2008+, as far as running the stock ECU, immobilizer-wise?, or is it still: ECU, Key, immobilizer module

Yes, it's hell, mostly because starting 08 every car is CAN-BUS.
The Analog speed signal is gone, it's now digital and come from the front wheel ABS system. My solution is simply to use 06-07 Impreza/Forester harness.

CAN data and immobilizer is in late 04 up. solution is to use 04 XT or early 04 STI ECU. also to eliminate the vsv emission circuits see the thread on code P1446

Obligatory "Bringing back an old thread" for information. I'm having the same issue. I have pinouts for both 2004 and 2005 STi, but seeing an issue either with security or improper pinning. There's not a lot of direct information. Wondering what others ran into.....

Sorta glad this popped up, I will hang onto it..

Son has a 2004 RS with a "full 2005 STi swap" in it.

I allowed the purchase since insurance see's a RS, thus NA.
Swap was done in the NE but nobody has admitted to it.
Ignition key does NOT match any other lock.

He wants to do another swap, to another Subaru....year and model unknown for now.

My understanding.....2005 STi is a chipped key.
To make another key, you need the original VIN.

Can a dealer, or place like Dashboard diagnostics read the key to make a new one?

Yes, I have had velichles show up no keys, pick the lock, disassemble the lock, hand file a key.
I have also rekeyed a vehicle from one key to make the others work.

I have yet to get an immobilizer key to work without a VIN.
What say the brain trust?

Bumping yet again.......

Can a dealer read the ECU/other black box and program an ignition key? Second swap for these electrics and drivetrain is coming up in a couple months.
I can rekey the other locks (more than likely), but would LOVE to have a second ignition key.

We never knew the original VIN, so going in blind.
If they can't read a VIN off the required black box, does this mean a new black box? What the frig does that run?

Yes, this is a street car.
Yes, this has to go through NJ emissions testing every other year so no clue if it bounces for VIN mismatch (I don't believe so).

I don't usually ask for help, but here is one.
TIA.....
