Doing my ceramic coating today. I do detailing for $ on the side. Not difficult . It s the paint correction that the hardest part if you are doing a car that the paint is not perfect on already. Mine is a week old so it should go easy. I have used Cquartz in the past. Didn t seem to last as long as I hoped. Using another product this time.
FYI For a good result it s all in the paint prep before the coating. |

just because it is closer doesn't make it good. Detailers domain is the best in the area. Plenty of clowns do ceramic coatings. Doesn't mean they do it right.

I'd do a clear film (on the front) now that you've ceramic coated it. Did mine when it was a few weeks old. Paint from the factory is far from perfect. Looks great, nice work

PPF, then coat. Coating would have to be removed to properly install PPF. |

I agree that PPF then coat is logical, and the right way, however you can film over a coated car. It will still install properly. These films are way more advanced than even 5 years ago.

I challenge anyone to find where a PPF manufacturer says it's OK to use any type of coating/wax/sealant under their film. Direct from Xpel: "We do NOT recommend applying sealants such as Opticoat or cQuartz to the parts of the car that will be covered with film. The low surface energy of paint sealant products such as these will cause adhesion problems both during installation and over the life of the product. In addition, it is worth noting that there is really no benefit to applying sealant to the paint before the film anyway, since the film will provide far more environmental protection to the paint than a sealant ever could." |
