Question 03 WRX and Valentine One = Weird Problem

Here is my problem. You mix a 2003 WRX and a Valentine One together and I get a LASER alert every time I accelerate hard. Once I am at speed the LASER alert stops and I am fine again until I accelerate hard again. I have looked the car over inside and out and I cant seem to find anything that could emit light that would cause a false alarm. Has anyone else with a Valentine and a WRX had this problem? Would anyone happen to know what may be causing this false alarms?

That does sound very weird. Try changing the location of the V1 and see if it happens again.

Interesting, another post about this just yesterday-
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=687619
It's actually a long-known issue with some older V1's, there is an updated power adapter that solves the problem. Contact Valentine and they should send you a new adapter. If your unit is brand new then this is unusual, the newer ones aren't supposed to have that problem.

Yes - my unit is about 5 or 6 years old. I will contact Valentine tomorrow and see if I can get this problem resolved.

Thanks for everyones input so far!

I don't think they'll be there on a Sunday, try Monday.

I sometimes had the same problem, for me in my 2005 sti it happens when I adjust the HID beams up or down currently. The laser goes off until the lights stop moving. Strange. In my 2002 WRX it would happen about 5% of the time, I'd start the car and drive, then when accelerating hard it would go off. Shut down the car, start it back up, the problem would go away.

Another problem but mine is with a Bel 985...

My detector is hard-wired and comes on when I start the car. 90% of the time it will give a major X-band false alarm 2-3 minutes after startup. If I simply turn the detector on manually I never get the false alarm. Very weird.

My V1 had the problem when I first wired it in to the cigarette lighter circuit. I moved to another, unswitched, hot source on the back of the relay stack and no more problem. Unfortunately I forget at the moment which connection I tapped...

(And yes, mine's an older one: 1st gen w/ laser.)
