Default couple of quick pictures of our first G8 sedan

Here are a few pictures of our First G8. Not a GT but still a really nice car. I am just under 6' and with the driver's seat where I would typically sit and getting into the back seat, there was still 5"-6" of room between my knees and the rear of the front seat.

Interior is very nice with the premium package leather and buttons and interior items are very well planned out in their location. It just has a more upscale feel in driving, interior materials and overall experience than what you would generally think of having a pontiac badge on it. (yes I know it is a Holden).

I will post up more pictures when we get our first GT version.

Very nice. The steering wheel looks like a Klingon weapon.

So in a couple of months - we should be able to pick it up for about 18K?

Because I am a little skeptical on all that I have read online with the supposed inside scoop guys...can you give us the specs as it is delivered to your dealership. Does it have an LS2 or what powers it.

It looks nice-- thanks for the pictures and for the info.

Forwarded to the woman. As much as I want a GT, I think we're realistically going to end up getting a V6-powered G8. We'll see, as I have even yet to drive the thing... I hope to have one in my garage, GT or not, sometime next year.

This isn't a G8 GT, so no. It's powered by the same LY7 V6 (3.2L) that you'll find in an ASSLOAD of GM cars, up to and including the Cadillac CTS. It is an extremely well-put-together motor.

The GT is powered by the L76, which is essentially Holden's evolution of the LS2. 362HP? Yes please.

The G8 to drool over is the upcoming GXP. It'll have an LS3 stuffed in up front, and have the same Getrag 6MT as the Corvette. So, yeah. $40Kish Corvette sedan.

none available on current models from what i've read. such a shame, since it looks like it'll be a great car. glad pontiac's finally turning the corner.

Next year. Doesn't bother me that much, because I'm of the mindset not to buy a new car in it's first MY. Give them a production run out in public to work out any bugs, etc.

Gear ratios for the GT have been posted. The GXP has to have a manual. And a 5MT does exist for the LY7, so I'm sure it'll hit in 2009.

... God, I want this car. Me. Wanting a Pontiac.

This world is a twisted place.

I haven't seen anything official... hop over to the "official" g8 thread in N&R and browse through, that's where I've seen most of this:

The 6 speed manual tranny will be available mid year.

assembled in australia. it is mostly a Holden design (especially the interior) since much of the car is basically a rebadged Commodore SS. unfortunately, the US doesnt get the wagon version that is available down under.

"GM has even gone so far as to equip the G8 with a twin-pivot MacPherson strut front suspension with tons of caster, which is exactly the equation that provides BMW with its legendary steering feel."

Notice the battery in the truck...hmm. BMW copy? Battery is on the other side though in the back. I think most BMW's have it on the passenger side.

semi functional scoops. They do lead into the engine compartment, but do not serve as "ram air induction". Probably more for just cooling in general.

This one is apparently one of a special group call the 888 group. There is badging inside, on the window sticker and I think somewhere else too.

Isn't the name G8 copyrighted already by the G8 Summit. Maybe I listen to too much NPR.

The front end and hood make me want to chunder, but it looks pretty nice otherwise. I, too, hope the quality is better than other GM products - especially the G6. The G6 was one of the worst cars I have ever driven.
