Likely the muffler is more of a restriction. Hard to say for sure. |

yeah I think so, that's why I want a single exit 3" system with a big quiet muffler
I had a couple veilside titanium axlebacks...titanium is not very good at muffling..lol oddly enough they had no blue burn marks on them |

lol my RSX greddy SP2 catback was under $600 shipped and most decent quality exhausts were in the 400-700 ballpark although they didn't have to waste money welding 3 extra pointless tips to it.
kpro was pretty pricey though..especially compared to open source/tactrix..lol on the plus side it was easy to sell for almost what you paid for it. I mean sure you could spend insane amounts of money on spoon, toda or mugen stuff but there are plenty of pricey parts available for our cars too |

Yeah, that was my point. rsutton and I just discussed this in another thread. People complain about $1200 Subaru exhausts because they see Honda exhausts for $300-600 all the time. The difference is that the Honda's are mostly just single can's or small mufflers. Most of the extra cost is the fancy quad tip designs. The 02-07 Subaru catbacks are usually $500-700 so they're not too bad. It was also brought up how GTR, BMW, etc all have exhausts that easily cost $4-6k and up. Some of it is quality/complexity/research, and some of it is just the price that the market can handle (more expensive car, more expensive parts).

Hell...the front lip for a M3 is more than most of our exhausts. We are spoiled with pricing in the Subaru community. Maybe not in comparison to the Honda community...but we get a lot more car for that (which I am sure some would debate).
Also...I much prefer the quad tip design in terms of looks. The car looks much more balanced and a lot less rice. Higher end cars are all going to more balanced, symmetrical looks. I like the trend. Big fart cans do not look good in my opinion and especially on our cars when you have to leave an obvious opening on the other side. |

I also like how the quad tip looks. Especially with the openings in the bumper. However I'm a bit conflicted about having a bunch of extra metal hanging under my car just to make it look cool. If there was a quiet single tip, and an OEM quality bumper to match, I think I'd like that. I've also been thinking that a single center exit would look pretty interesting on a Subaru. No one would ever make one in mass because you'd need a new bumper or it would look terrible. I think some of the rally cars do it, but it's just a hole cut in the middle of the bumper, lol. |

we aren't spoiled, GTR and BMW mods are just insanely expensive. take a look at the price of domestic mods. You can probably make an LS1 fbody faster than xluben's car for the price of one of these exhausts. Quad tips are the definition of ricey too. People think its hilarious when someone puts quad tips on a civic...it really makes no more sense on our cars or on an M3. People complain about hellaflush being form over function. Some guy(lawl) brought up how he didn't like people who leave their fog lights on because they think it looks cool...i don't see how that is any different from these quad tipped exhausts. The sideways design is just hurting the flow anyway. fart cans are stupid too, they really don't belong on street cars
I'd like something like this http://www.rallysportdirect.com/Invi...edan-2008-2010 Last edited by Celery GT-5; 11-06-2012 at 08:49 AM. |

I don't think you understand that products are designed around the platform that they fit onto.

Single cans are amazing!
(Take that Ark off and ship it my way) Beer would be your choice, I've been enjoying Lagunitas quite a bit recently. And heavy Seas. |

I would be SO down for a single, center exit exhaust, with a matching bumper. I really love center exhausts, esp on hatches.

and how is a single exit for a 2008-2010 sedan any different than one for a 2011-2012? the 08-10 still had dual exhaust just without quad tips |

http://www.rallysportdirect.com/Invi...back-2008-2010 The other consideration is that people don't want tips that don't match the car unless they have some other major benefit. A single tip with a big muffler doesn't flow any better than a quad tip with a similar muffler, and therefore the single tip wouldn't sell. The only time a single tip becomes desirable is when it is no holds barred, better flow. The worst of both worlds is dual tips on a quad tip car. The tips don't fit the cutouts, but it still has all of the downsides of the quad tip style (weight, flow, etc). |

you say that and yet there are loads of single tip options, they are just fart can style. The sedan 08-10 single Q300 leaves an empty hole in the bumper and yet it exists...
I doubt the single tip Q300 flows any worse than a fart cannon its full 3" straight through, I think all the bends cause a bigger issue than how loud the muffler is |

My next exhaust is probably Crawford ( It's ugly though... ) or Invidia Race. ( I hear they can burn your bumpers though ). The Invidia race will look similar to the Greddy Ti-C but be more "throaty"
I like the single tip because it reminds me of the older Imprezas. Quad tips look less obvious though, so they aren't bad. |

Q300's chamber muffler surely flows much worse than a straight through can. Probably enough so that the piping diameter and bends are irreverent in regards to flow. |

I'll stick with the can :P. My neighbor and cousin want to "**** my car in it's exhaust because it's so sexy".
Not sure if I should feel good or never talk to them again >_>. |
