why buy a car that you can't afford to drive it like you want it? If you can't afford it, you should not have a turbo charged car.........

I must be rodding on my car too much, because I just filled it up on Monday, and today I'm at about half a tank.

Stock I was getting 25mpg. That sucked. I felt that was too much...so I went Stage 2 to fix that.

I also am getting pretty bad gas milage. i just recently bought a 2011 wrx and it came with a tbe, sri, header, and had an open source tune through my cobb ap . according to the readout on the dash im getting 23.5 all city. but on the accessport the log is only telling me 21.7. however if i do the math i should be getting closer to 300/tank even with 21.7 mpg x 16.9 gal/tank. im at just over half a tank and im at 100 miles driven. im still getting a feel for the car so im not romping on it, shifts are under 2750 rpm. idk what im doing wrong or if its just to be expected.

Basically I was going to end up paying about $400 more per year in fuel for the STi....a car I'd be *much* happier with. So yeah, it's worth the extra $400/yr for a car I spend 2+ hours in every day.

Unless you're calculating by hand you're doing it wrong. Also I can only assume you didn't buy the car for it's stellar gas mileage, so not sure what you're expecting. By hand I get about 19mpg city driving, so it sounds like you're doing fine. One other thing, you're probably not shifting at the right time if you shift at 2750 all the time. Your car is most efficient when in vac and becomes less efficient as boost rises. For best mpg stay in vac and shift when you go into boost. You're throttle position can also effect when you go into boost.

If you can't afford to put fuel in your vehicle you can't afford the car. Buy a cheap beater for a grand, have no car payment, and you can drive around forever with no issues.

As others have stated, fuel cost isn't that much (currently) and the depreciation hit you'll take means saving a LOT of fuel... not happening unless you get a totally boring car, which probably isn't your bag if you bought a WRX.

If your foot isn't into it, the wrx doesn't have that bad of fuel economy. No need to race around everywhere.
