Red ...I need a new name!

Default Sumitomo HTR Z II ..

I think I managed to spell that name right. I've read alot of positive comments about these tires on tire-rack and being that they are one of the cheapest performance tires I'm considering them. Has anyone ever tried them out or currently using them? If so how would you rate the them.

i've had the older HTR-Z's for about 25,000mi...they're as perfect a tire as you could possibly hope for for $85 apiece. they're very comparable to the kumho 712's, except they perform better at the cost of a slight decrease in comfort.

cobb consistently reccommends them as the best tire for the money.

Thumbs up

I have these on 17 inch Rota's,,compared to stock 92s there excellent.Compared to Bridgestone 730s there stickier and handle just as well maybe a little more sidewall flex the n the 730s.Ive had em for about 4000 miles,,,like em alot fr a low price perf. tire. They arent wearing fast either and are quiet so far.Ride is like stock very smooth.
I do think the 730s would outlast these in the long run.
Im very happy with them.

FWIW, I don't think all the sizes are created equal. I have them in 205/50r16 on a 16x7 wheel, and I really don't like them at all. The sidewalls feel super squishy. Yet most people running them in 17" sizes seem very happy. So make sure you solicate comments regarding the exact size you intend to purchase.

BTW, if you _do_ want to run a 205/50r16 Sumitomo, I'll be more than happy to sell you mine - lots of tread left.

Well, I do plan on running them on 16-7 wheels, anyone else with this size wheel using this tire? Race-Riot...what size wheel do you use?

Thumbs up Sumitomo HTRZ II

I have a set of 225-45/17's for about 4000 miles now. I cannot say that I have owned or tested any other tires but the stock re92's. I have not been dissapointed and they hold the road rather well. From what Ive read (which was alot before I purchased mine) that they are the best for the price. The other option for me would have been the Falken Azenis.

OK buy Nates beans

These tires seem to need more pressure than what the stock tires need.
I have 225/45's on 17" SSR Comp. wheels and 41psi front and 39 psi rear seems to be the best street pressure combo.
I have had them on for about 6500 mi.
These tires are, IMHO, GREAT in the rain and very predictible overall.
I think that they are very noisy on coarse pavement.
IMHO, too low pressure is a problem for people who don't know that they can put more pressure in their tires safely.

I have HTRZ2s 215/45/17 and I think that they are the best bang for the buck and I did a LOT of research before I bought them. Excellent wet traction, good dry grip. The only drawback is that they are loud when you break them in. But definitely worth the price of admission.

HTRZ II is a great tire. I have driven on these, along with kuhmo 712 , RE730, and Falken Azenis.
The HTRZ II is much much stickier than the Kuhmos, and very similar to RE730, IMO slightly stickier. It is of course not as sticky as the Azenis, but the difference was not as drastic as I thought it would be.

Default I got them too

I have them on Bronze Subzero's (Rota) I have 225/45/17 I like them. I mentioned in the motorsports forum that that was the type of tire I was using and it was suggested to me that I could benifit from a better tire for Autocross. I didn't get that comment because I have always thought that the tires were good. Maybe the comment had to do with what you are aloud to do in STX class maybe your tires don't have to be street legal. Anyway I like them alot.
