Default First time Subie owner and a question.

Hello, not sure if this is the right thread (sorry in advanced mods). But, just picked up a 2005 Outback 2.5i N/A Auto with 130k this Tuesday. It's nothing fancy or fast, but I love it. Have been doing a little bit of work to it during the week to get it road trip ready. One thing was to replace the oem head unit with an aftermarket one. 2 problems arouse from that, unfortunately. The first being, that I no longer have lighting on my gear selector or climate control. The second, which may or may not be related, is CEL code P0851 or Park/Neutral Switch Input Circuit Low. I dont know if there is a wire behind the head unit that may have got ground out or what but having just gotten this car, it's kind of a bummer to have these things happen. Sorry for the novel.

Tl;Dr: hi, got a subie and I think I messed something up. Help.

Default I'm no expert but..

I'm no expert but you should probably try to put the OEM unit back in and check if thr problems persist.
That'd tell you if it's a problem with the wiring or the aftermarket unit.

I guess what I'm really asking is, if there is a wire behind the the head unit/climate control that runs down to the inhibitor switch.
