Default Anyone know what this little hole is used for on this plate? 2002 WRX 5mt

Was installing shifter bushings on my bugeye and noticed this empty hole on this plate. Thought maybe Iím missing something or maybe itís used on a different model. Donít see anything going to it on the diagram, but I thought Iíd ask on here just to see if anyone knew anything about it! Thanks

ďThere are a couple of different variants of the u-joint linkage: early ones have an external centering spring, some are riveted together, and some use different sized bushings. So to fix worn bushings itís important to know what variant is on the car.Ē

Tang goes away from the transmission. Early cars did not have an internal return spring for the shifter. so the return spring went from the washer to the side of the shifter. i believe they switched it over on the 1999 RS 5 speed cars.

Thanks for the reply Tom. Iíve used lots of your parts on my car and they are excellent. So my bugeye being a 2002 would have no external spring, meaning nothing is missing correct?
