"Too many? Nevar!!" - Newey

Admittedly, that is just ridiculousness. It's an engineering marvel, but I think it's a good thing they simplified things and I hope it translates into better racing but that remains to be seen.

Testing schedule. Williams won't be ready in time for the first day.

They're going to miss tomorrow now as well at a minimum.

It's looking bad. They gave up on the 2018 car to focus on the 2019 car and they're still the only team not ready. I don't even know what to say anymore. 7pts last year and word is morale is ****, unsurprisingly. How much longer can Claire run this team into the ground before swallowing her pride and bringing in an actual experienced race team manager? If the car is another turd, there will be nothing the drivers can do with it. I hope they're better than last season but this is the worst start possible.

Red wings don't look good on an all red car. Either black or white.

Early doors. Remember the horrorshow testing Red Bull had in 2014? There were serious concerns that half the field wouldn't even finish the race. Thankfully, it turned out better than expected and all I can say is I hope the same is true for Williams.

Also, big surprise; if you simplify the front wings, F1 engineers make the bargeboards further upstream the new front wings and spend tons of time and money on intricate designs. Even with new bargeboard regulations as well, this looks like the area most of the development will focus on.

Williams finally out of the garage this afternoon. They have some catch up to do. Not where you want to start the season when you were already dead last the prior year.

Also, available on Netflix March 8th

Every best time for every team every day has been < 1:21 except for Williams by a country mile! But it's early. Still, for a team that looked like the only place they could go was forwards, they seem to have stepped backwards.

Jalopnik has an article explaining (kind of) what Ferrari's title sponsor Mission Winnow is. https://jalopnik.com/what-the-****-i...ned-1832730465
For some reason when I saw it emblazoned on the driver's coveralls last year I was confusing it with one of the big charities F1 teams support every year, that children's hospital in Britain.
...Anyway, in case you were unawares like me, it's basically the next evolution of that barcode that Ferrari ran post-tobacco advertisement ban, AKA the not so subtle Marlboro barcode. It is almost amusing to read the nonsensical PR explanation that is a lot of talking without actually explaining anything of substance.

As for Williams, I've already sold my soul to the dark lords to no avail after McLaren took a turn for the worse years ago. So while it's sad that a legacy F1 team like Williams will likely be a back marker, they have to get in line. McLaren needs to reenter podium territory first, in m eyes.

With one exception, Williams has been a midfield team at best since the end of the Montoya/Ralf days

But Williams did have at least one competitive season with Massa and Bottas when the Merc engine was overwhelmingly dominant and that extra 100hp covered for poor aero.

Looks like Kubica took 4 seconds out of that Williams time. Not too bad given how few laps they've put in for the 2 days they've had.

At this point they're just testing systems and getting baselines. They haven't had any time to work on setup or car performance yet. I suspect they won't be as far off as "ZOMG 2 days late to testing!!" headlines read, but will still be bringing up the rear.

Nothing matters until quali in Melbourne.

And he was on the C2.

I bet they're still in the rear at the next test, but not far back. But perhaps when the car is run in full form (think it was missing substantial parts), they'll be in touch with the (F1.5) field.

Anyway, a little bit of relief for them I'm sure, after being on the verge of a true laughing stock.

Has anyone been to Baku? Recommendations for seats? It looks like I'm going to be able to attend. Leaning toward Bulvar.
