82 BRAT with 12 in. lift

Talking I gotta BRAT! I gotta BRAT! I gotta BRAT!

Ok, I went this morning and checked out the 85 Marina Blue BRAT that was way out in BFE MD. The BRAT met my needs and I got a hell of a deal on itat 250. so I towed her on home. The engine is blown but that is just fine as I will be dropping in a very special engine. There is some rust but not in critical or hard to repair areas. The bed floor is rust free but the rear wheel wells need to be replaced. There is a place on the right and on the left rocker panel cover that has rust damage and that is also repairable. Those will take about a weeks worth of work for me and then some general dent removal before painting.

NOW GET THIS> In 1991 at Thanksgiving break, 10 years ago to the week, I had my 86 Marina Blue BRAT destroyed when my now EX drove it off a cliff after falling asleep behind the wheel. SO here it is almost 10 years later to the day and there is a BRAT in my driveway. I have felt that I have stepped through a time warp all day and it is a VERY ERIE feeling.

Lesson learned, never let a mere woman come between you and your Scooby. I have been given a second chance.

What will I be doing with the BRAT over the coming months?

Stage 1 - Strip cab clean of carpet, seats etc. and repaint and install racing seats.

Stage 2 - Drop engine and driveline and strip/refinish engine compartment.

Stage 3 - Install 8 inch lift kit and some LARGE FAT WIDE Mickey thompson Baja Belted tires

Stage 4 - Install engine and driveline

Stage 5 - Body work, replace wheel well and fix general dents

Stage 6 - Paint

Stage 7 - Begin work on Roll bars/ nerf bars /push bars/winch/ lights etc. etc. etc.

Hey I live in BFE VA

I am between Warrenton and Culpeper on the way to the Orange RallyX.

Before pics will be posted as soon as I can take a pic during daylight hours. I tried a few at night but they weren't too good.

The exhaust will moxt likely be a Supertrapp, I had one one my original BRAT and it sounded just right. It is not so much of a muffler as it is as sound modifier.

And although the truck is an 85 it will bear the same plates as my original "86 BRAT"
