Question EJ22T swap into RS, tranny question?

I'm thinking about swaping out the EJ25 in my 00 RS with the legacy EJ22T, I will be using the EJ25 heads on the block and wiring harness. But my question is since i have an 4EAT automatic tranny will i have problems with the EJ22T block connecting to the tranny?

it will probably work, but remember that you'll need to check your rear diff ratio.

Nope. 90+ Subarus, excluding the Loyale and Justy of course, are all bolt compatible.

ScoobySlack's EJ22T came from a Legacy Touring Wagon like mine, with a 4EAT, and most EJ22Ts were mated with automatics.

Question

This isn't the same EJ22T that's in the 22b is it? Or, if not, could it be modded to become the 22b?

The EJ22T shares only the same displacement as the 22b motor.

It does however have a closed deck, and the SOHC and DOHC heads from the EJ25 will basically bolt on without issue.

Byron's B-Spec Impreza has this setup with the SOHC, T3/T4 and well over 500hp, so...

Yes, it could eat a 22b for breakfast.

Also, if you are going to swap EJ25 heads onto the block, I am pretty sure you have to swap DOHC heads, which you do not have on your RS.

Mebbe not - here is the 2.5 heads on a 2.2 block thread.

I did it and now I'm running pretty nicely...
Just a little rich because i put in big injectors... nothing i hope an SAFC won't fix... but with the block connecting to the tranny you will have some problems with the starter. I had some problems with the starter with one bolt. Who is doing this for you... they should be able to fiqure it out though... Wasn't too hard... if there is a problem... pm me...

or

I'd do a 02 EJ-25 shortblock, with 02 WRX heads and manifolds.
