Jon Wongs 2012 Subaru WRX (GR)
Hey guyse!
Ive been around for a while, but i havent quite gotten to know the forum community. I have gotten to know some of yall in the east coast though! (represent) Sooooo I decided to make a build thread, and I will be sharing with you guys my journey to my awesome WRX. c: I know there are a ton of GR's out there with crazy modifications, but this is what makes mine, mine. The goal of this car was to make a good all rounder. A car that can do anything (maybe except off-roading and rally-x); so a daily, a track car, weekend twisty road car, whatever. Something that is good at everything and not great at one specific thing. I have accumulated around 60,000 miles within the past three years so driving is a part of my everyday routine; and everyday, i plan to drive nothing else. No stripped interiors, speed density tunes, crazy big turbos, or roll-cages here. Here are my modifications (for those who don't want to read my story ): ) : Exhaust / Intake / Fuel / Oiling (Powertrain) (Black Ceramic Coated) Full Race Twinscroll Headers / Rotated Uppipe / Rotated Downpipe / Intake (Black Ceramic Coated / Titanium Wrapped) Twinscroll EFR 7163 IWG Turbo Turbosmart High Boost IWG Actuator Cobb Catback Grimmspeed TGV Deletes Process West Top Mount Intercooler (w/ IAT) IAG V2 Fuel Rails IAG Parallel Fuel Lines Aeromotive A1000 FPR ID1300cc Injectors DW300c Fuel Pump Cobb Flex Fuel Cobb Fuel Pressure Sensor KSTech Air Pump Delete Plates (air pump delete) Killer B Oil Pan Killer B Oil Pickup Tube Killer B Oil Baffle Crawford Air Oil Separator Optima Yellow Top Battery Mishimoto Oil Cooler Koyorad Aluminum Radiator Equal Length Headers (Ceramic Coated & Heat Wrapped) Invidia Catless Downpipe (Heat Wrapped) CNT 3 Inch N1 Catback (Ceramic Coated) Greddy Supreme SP Catback Tial MV-S 38mm External Wastegate Grimmspeed EWG uppipe Grimmspeed Electronic Boost Control Solenoid KS Tech 73mm Cold Air Intake Torque Solutions Top Mount Intercooler Perrin Turbo Inlet ID1000 cc Injectors DW65c Fuel pump (265Lph) Tuning Cobb Accessport (awesome little thing) (Cobb Catback, Catless Downpipe) Protune by Mikey Botti @ EFI Logics (1st protune) (+Fuel pump, EWG, Top Mount, Intake, EBCS) - 295 whp, 309 wtq - -- Mustang Dyno @ EFI Protune by Dave Brown @ Performance Auto Solutions (2nd Protune) (+EQL Headers, TGV Deletes, 1000cc injectors, Turbo Inlet) - 305 whp, 315 wtq (93 pump gas, 16 psi) - - 320 whp, 320 wtq (93 pump gas, 18 psi) - - 356 whp, 370 wtq (E-85, 18.5 psi) - -- Mustang Dyno @ PAS - As of 1/29/2015 - Protune by Dave Brown @ Performance Auto Solutions (3rd Protune) (+CNT Catback, Forged Pistons, Forged Rods, ARP Headstuds, King Bearings, - Airpump) - 306 whp, 315 wtq (93 pump, 16 psi) - - 311 whp, 344 wtq (93 pump, 18.5 psi) - - 320 whp, 367 wtq (93 pump, 21 psi) - - As of 7/29/2015 - - 332 whp, 362 wtq (E85, 16 psi) - - 340 whp, 370 wtq (E85, 18.5 psi) - - 350 whp, 380 wtq (E85, 21 psi) - -- Mustang Dyno @ PAS - As of 2/4/2017 - Cobb Flex Fuel Protune by Mikey Botti @ ACI (Upgraded to Accessport V3) - 375 whp, 340 wtq (93 Pump, ~20 psi) - 425 whp, 390 wtq (E53, 24 psi) Drivetrain JDM STi 6 Speed Transmission (TY856WB6KA) -- Helical Front Diff, DCCD, 3.9FD OEM STi Short Shifter JDM STi 6 Speed Shift Knob STi R180 Rear LSD & Axles ACT Streelite Flywheel ACT HDSS Organic Plate Clutch Torque Solutions Solid Billet Aluminum Transmission Mount Torque Solutions Engine Mounts Torque Solutions Pitch Stop Mount Torque Solutions Shifter Bushings Cobb Double Adjustable Short Shifter WC Lathewerks 7 Inch Double Bend Shift Knob Extension WC Lathewerks Piston Shift Knob Kartboy Front and Rear Shifter Bushings Southbend Stage 2 Pressure Plate ACT 6 Puck Sprung Disc South Bend Stage 2 Endurance Clutch Kit(destroyed. whoops) Suspension / Wheels RCE Tarmac 0 Coilovers (340 lbs/in spring) (6kg/mm) Whiteline 22mm Front Sway Bar Whiteline 22mm Rear Sway Bar Whiteline Heavy-duty Adjustable Endlinks (F&R) SPC Rear Lower Adjustable Control Arms BC BR-Type Coilovers (dampened just for me c:, Alignment done by AZP (y)) Rays Gramlights 57Xtreme Wheels (18 x 9.5 +40) Michelin Pilot Super Sport Tires (265/35/18) (Summer) Stock WRX Wheels (17 x 8 +55) (Winter) General Altimax Winter Tires (225/45/17) (Winter) TrackSpacers 20mm Spacer (Winter) Brakes Stoptech ST-40 Front Brake Kit Stoptech Aerotech Rotors Rear STi Brembo Goodridge Stainless Steel Braided Brake Lines Grimmspeed Master Cylinder Brace DBA 4000 T3 Rear Rotors Carbotech 1521 Bobcat Pad (Street) Carbotech XP8 (Daily/Track Rear Pad) Subaru JDM 4 Piston Front Calipers Hawk HPS Front Brake Pads Stoptech Street Rear Brake Pads DBA 4000 T3 Front Rotors Carbotech AX6 (Autocross/Daily Pad) Carbotech XP10 (Track Pad) Interior Defi Boost Guage Defi Oil Pressure Guage Defi Oil Temperature Guage AEM UEGO Wideband Guage SMY Dual Guage Cluster MAPDCCD Misc Hella Supertone Horns 35% Tints RallyArmour Mudflaps (for the winter) STi V-limited Lip STi S206 Side Skirts Internals Manley 99.75mm bore 8.5:1 Comp Ratio Forged 2618 Alloy Pistons Eagle H-beam Forged 4340 Alloy Rods King XPG Race Main Bearings King XPG Race Rod Bearings Gates Racing Timing Belt ARP Headstuds Heres my story! c: Back in February of 2012. Got the car. and barely knew how to drive stick, but i managed. She was, and still is my most cherished hobby c: After not much time, I started doing small mods. you know, lights, mud flaps, tints, yeah.. all that small stuff. I didnt know much about my car then, so i just took everything as is. After around 7k or so miles, I wanted noisee. I did some research and did what almost every subaru owner does first performance wise. I started making friends in the community and began researching into my car to learn more about it. (ej205 swapped 99 RS still in the making!)(BansheeBoy11 - where most of my knowledge came from, and where 90% of the work on the car was done. Thanks so much dude! c Last edited by jwong1208; 02-07-2017 at 08:08 PM. |
