^ Awesome.

I don't know much myself but there are still some things that even I am surprised techs don't know. With all of the turbo models that Subaru offers, you would think that they would have a better knowledge of turbos, just in general...

I sold Subaru's for about a year and it's true. Subaru owners know what they want and the cars really sell themselves. I used to tell people go ahead and test drive the civic you want then come back and drive any Subaru and you tell me which one feels better. Bad it was always a bonus when it was snowing...no comparison. Too bad Subaru doesn't pay much for new car sales though. $50 flat rate on a new subaru back then :/ Needless to say I knew more than most of the other salesmen we had there, but that's because I had mine for years before working there. Never once showed anyone a cup holder like salesmen used to show me when I was looking at cars to buy lol.

My car was in a local shop getting some very minor work done to it and the guy working on it kept telling me that the wenkel engine is awesome... He swore up and down my car had a 13b rotary in it.. How the hell can you honestly be a mechanic and think, even after looking under the hood, that a wrx has a damn wenkel in it...

That is why nobody touches my car but me... too many people think they know everything. Before anyone touches your car, ask them about their exp. and if they know everything or still have a lot to learn. Anyone who says they knows everything has no right to hold a wrench.

imo...

Was talking to this guy about his car (Saturn sky convertible lol) and my car, earlier today. He tells me how his Saturn gets like 30 mpg, and I told him "yea, the AWD takes all my gas mileage so I get like 25 around town."
His response was, "you should disconnect the 'shaft' (driveshaft) for summer driving, and reconnect it for the snow"

-_-

He then goes to tell me how ".......FWD cars mess with me.....", I guess referring to driving on dirt roads and handling in my car.

Again, -_-

How do you not know what an Impreza looks like if you work for Subaru? Seriously. That's like being a Honda salesman and not knowing what a Civic is.
Your car is a 2001. He probably didn't even work for subaru back then let alone might not even have been selling cars.

My boss, on the subject of my red Rally Armour mudflaps:

Boss: "Your mudflaps aren't installed right, they're sticking out."
Me: "That's how they're supposed to sit, it's the style."
Boss: "No, they're supposed to go in further so they're flush with the fender. I've been installing mudflaps on my cars for decades." (He has a '68 Camaro.)
Me: (giving up) "Well, there's no more adjustment room on the brackets."
Boss: "Those are silly anyway, they don't really convey a professional image."

(My car is sitting next to a beat-up XJ Cherokee with 30" mud tires, lift, winch, road lights with those smiley face covers on them, and an interior full of garbage).

Me: "Hmm."

This is the same person who congratulated me on moving from a Volvo S60R to the Subaru because "you don't look like an old man any more." Welllll, which is it?

Wouldn't surprise me. No one around here knows how different Subaru's AWD is.

I even got into an argument with my dad the other day because he swore you can tow a Subaru with two wheels on the ground, and it'll be fine.

This is why I let no one drive my car.

A guy in a mustang gt told some friends and I that he was planning on getting a sti for his wife. He said he changed his mind because it was to technical for her to drive and that she wouldn't know how to work the turbo.

Yeah I hate having to reach in there and spin the turbo every time I want to accelerate.

See what I did was I wedged a ratchet on there and then tied a string from the handle to my windshield wipers. That way all you have to do is turn on your wipers to accelerate!

This is the conversation i walked into at work yesterday.
Machine Operator : "My car broke down. I dont want a payment but its hard to find a good used one for less than 5-6k."
I walk up.
Senile Engineer: "You should get a Subaru BZR. Its a sports car."
Machine operator "A what?"
"A B-Z-R."
"No only rich people can afford Subarus."(Directed at me. I bought new WRX.)
SMH. I didnt bother correcting him. At least he knew it was a subaru.
