Question Wilwood 4 pot vs Subaru 4 pot

How do those 2 calipers compare for track use? Availability of pads? I already have the Wilwoods but have never tried the Subaru.

Other calipers recommended that fit under 16 inch mags?

this was covered in depth a week ago.. and a week before that, and a month before that... in other words, everything you may wish to know can be found by searching.

Yes, seen.

The Brembo 4 pot won't fit under 16 inch wheels, but the Subaru 4 pot will.

Maybe under the RS wheels, 16x7.0 with proper offset, but not stock wrx wheels

it will with a 3mm spacer - as you said there is a ton of info out there, maybe you should read it too?

To settle this:

Yes, it's a WELL known fact that the suby 4 pots fit under the GC chassis RS wheels. The ones that are 16x7. I've got a set that are shod with my race rubber.

edit:
To answer the original question, I can only answer from the perspective of the Suby 4 pots. Mine have been thru 3 track days and have held up extremely well lap after lap. Even at Roebling Road, where the end of the front straight I was seeing 120+
The brakes never even hinted at fade after 12-15 minute sessions.

For a bit of empirical data, all HPDEs have been run with Porterfield R4S pads.

Yeah Joe, I wasn't trying to dispute you. I was just trying to tell the Spider-guy that it's been very established that the older RS wheels fit fine. I remember the discussion we had with Clayton about this about a year and a half ago.

Sadly, no.....
I was doubly assured by Luke that it is a match made in heaven....as I'm considering buying the 16" SSR's to match my 17's

I can assure you that the Subaru 4-Pots are an all-around better part than the Wilwoods. The only thing the Subies give up is weight. IMO, the Subaru caliper is superior.

Based upon my experience with both setups, i have to disagree. I am interested in hearing what brought you to this conclusion.

It's the stiffness of the the Subaru caliper that does it for me. I prefer the firmer pedal that the Subaru caliper provides. I also like the fact that the Subaru caliper doesn't have an external crossover tube.

the wilwood dynalite does not have an external crossover, it is crossed over internally. I have seen no evidence that the subaru caliper is in fact stiffer (i presume you mean flexes less under load) or, more specifically, the wilwood is not stiff, but am open to any evidence you have. Pedal feel is a preference, as I have detected no difference in feel driving both setups. i have noticed that the addition of the 2-piston rear wilwoods to the 4 piston front setup did effect pedal travel quite a bit, if this is what you mean by having a firm, or soft pedal. I have not driven a car with both front and rear FHI setups.

This is, of course, a topic of personal preference, and some heated debate. I am more than willing to hear arguments from the other side and any evidence to prove what setup is better.

I have been wanting to get my Subaru 4-Pots on our flex rig for a while now, perhaps this is the kick in the butt that I needed. And my apologies about the Dynalite, for some reason I was thinking of the Dynalite II which does have a cross-over tube but is also not used in any Subaru kits as far as I know.

4 pots fit under legacy gt rims. they are 16s.

also, what is a good brake upgrade for the rear if doing the 4 pots for the front?

I have a 95 legacy and it has 1 piston brakes front and back. I was thinking the h6 upgrade but i cant find the rear mounts, but i can find all of the wrx parts to do that.

Maybe I'll bust out the digicam. The first thing I need to do is find a rebuild kit for my four pots and get them back together. I've been thinking about doing a nice little "22B" number on them with our special two-part epoxy finish that we use.

Kid the 4pots dont fit under the Legacy GT wheels without spacers.

You must have the single pots on the 260mm rotors. Lemme do some math and find out how the 4pots would affect your stock bias to begin with.

I dont know what you mean by mounts, but to get the "H6" rears on you car you need to replace all the rear setup - calipers, caliper brackets, rotors, pads and hardware.

The Nissan Z32 rebuild kit should work just fine
