This car really came alive with just a mild reflash - this is how they should have released the car from the factory - so much more fun.

Looks nice Al. Whats the target boost? And did you add some fueling down low, where the stock ECU was running stoch up till like 4k?

Sorry to ask this, but I was wondering if you reflash the ECU on stock, does it ruin the engine or wear off the engine faster?

Looks a lot like what Perrin posted as well. Its easy to poke holes at factory tuned cars, but you have to keep in mind that the OEM must sell vehicles which meet emissions and fuel economy standards. At least its easy enough to reprogram the Subies.

LOL in Subaru's case it actually makes for a better car. Subaru has the crappiest off the assembly line ECU flashes I have ever seen. JMO oh wait thats a fact

The closed loop delay is eliminated so the car goes to open loop when the boost ramps up.

The a/f target is 11.3 tapering to 11 at red line

Boost was 15 psi peak tapering to 12 or so at red line

Stock BOV replacement would assist boost taper

I concur the stock closed to open loop delay is crazy when they set the a/f for 14/1 at full load till mid 4,000

This is clearly an attempt at emmissions compliance which is very hard on the engine's piston rings

Al on George's station

AL, you seriously need to make an update vid on the 08 sti, I know you put the perrin FMIC kit on there as well as a few other goodies, and I'm curious to see what difference it made over the APS TMIC unit. please inform!

Why do you say specifically the piston rings?

So if I got my ECU flashed (I got a 2.5i auto 2008) how much power would I get? lol

And does it void my warranty? and how much does a reflash usually go for?

Al makes more power with magic, not boost or a/f. There is no graph for magic.
