I wonder how much it would be to get a fiberglass hood molded. Lower costs than CF, more readily available, and lighter than aluminum.

I'm not sure I'd call carbon fibre "fragile". Yes, it will shatter (rather than bend) if subjected to a hard enough impact, but it generally takes a helluva impact to make that happen. Go searching through an EVO forum for the "Oh noes, I totaled ma n3w Evo, y0!!1!!one" threads and you'll notice that in many cases their rear wings look perfectly fine, despite the fact that car's been rolled.
CF is strong stuff. Pat |

Yes, but we're talking about the BD/BK/BG cf hoods specifically. A lot of people have had problems with theirs not being very strong.

I'm almost tempted to try. I did a lot of fibreglass work on an Opel Manta project some 15 years ago. Nothing like fabricating parts from scratch but enough to make me feel it is something I "should" be able to do. Is there a "build yourself a fibreglass hood from scratch" web page out there perhaps? |

I suggest you make a hood out of wheat bread. It would be very light, it doesn't shatter, and it doesn't dent from hail. Though the birds may eat your hood... hmmmm, maybe we are back to square one again...

Nooo, you could just spray some laquer on the bread and that would protect it from Weather and Predators
