Default Tanabe Super Racing Medallion

I received my Tanabe SRM yesterday by UPS ground. I purchased the Cat back along w/ the Stomung catless downpipe from Brett at Renick Subaru in California ... great customer service so far. The Tanabe was installed yesterday and it sounds ... MEAN . I thought it was very loud at first which I still think it's loud but not as loud as before, maybe because I'm getting use to it. People say the car just hints "Try Me !" It gives off a true, deep boxer tuned sound. The Tanabe was very easy to work with and everything fits perfectly. However welds are good not as good as the Vishnu up-pipe.
Shane and I are going to install the Stromung catless downpipe tonight and hopefully that'll also go well. The welds are "ok" and don't come close to either products ... I hope Stromung watches the quanlity of their products more carefully in the future. Hey what do you expect for a $200 catless dp which should equal 10+hp? I heard that w/ a catless dp that the Tanabe will sound even louder. If everything goes well then I'll have some GTech numbers later tonight.

Default Update

Well I was very impressed w/ my GTech runs on last Sats runs however being an idiot I disconnected my ECU on Sun and everything went downhill from there. Lesson learned, don't disconnect your ECU unless you really have to. 0-60 @ 4.8secs average w/ a range from 4.66-4.98 on Sat night. After being an idiot my times dropped to almost factory settings but after two days of driving and bad launches in the wet I was back between 4.8-4.9secs. All runs were done on a full tank of gas, roof rack, spare tire and tools, etc. I want 4.5secs average w/ out the spare and tools and <1/4 tank of gas. The Tanabe sounds MEAN ... everyone agrees to that NO questions, very very deep rumble. None of that r*ice boy stuff, true deep mean tone.

Default Update

Still no one has yet raced me expect for people I know which I have to plead w/. It's must be the roof rack driving people away. The Tanabe is definitely real loud, it's cool for "spirited" driving but I still feel it's too loud for normal driving. I've had it for 3 weeks now and not complaints ... I have received alot of complements from other driver of WRXs and other cars. For those who have PMed me you can always call me.

Default Yo

1. Stromung catless dp = 2.5 diameter
2. No flex pipe in the Tanabe
3. Unfortunately ... but the microphone does NOT capture the deep rumble thus I have not gotten a good recording yet.

Just watched the video. Did you know you shift at 10,000 rpm or somthing like that. Can't be good for the car.

That's actually 8200-8500rpm at the most.. for a DOHC VTEC that isnt bad at all. Especially when the Peak HP is usually around 7600rpm. If you notice, the motor is still really smooth and pulling hard that high up.

I have been running the tanabe srm for some time now and i love it. Im using it with an hks downpipe and have no problems. These two pieces mated together perfectly using the stock donut gasket. The only complaint i have about the tanabe is the way it looks. I would have prefered something with a duel tip that looked more stock but the price was right and its a great exhaust.

I know I've been missing for a while since I've been busy with work related stuff. I'm actually selling for Stromung catless dp and maybe of Tanabe SRM. It's rather scratched up due to normal driving ( on and off road ) so I'm still debating if I should keep it as an ornament for the new house. I guess it depends on offers.
