your issue is that the 04-07 Impreza rear springs are tapered, and won't fit the upper perches on the GC rear tophats

otoh the GD rear tophats have a different bolt pattern and won't bolt in the GC chassis

people have made 'hybrid' rear tophats but the best solution seems to be 90-01 Legacy AWD tops, which apparently [DISCLAIMER: I have not actually done this] have the right combination of perch diameter and bolt pattern:

Cool.
Thanks UkNuck.

So you fairly sure that a 90-91 Legacy rear strut mount will fit into a GF?
The dirty impreza thread didn't really go on to say that he did it (plus the poster owns a legacy in the first place).

Thanks again.
=)

would 24 mm front and 24 mm rear swaybars be too much for a 05 wrx?

Only 2008 Impreza specific springs will fit.

2008+ STI springs are too short. I wouldn't recommend using them. They're also too stiff for stock 08 struts.

Please help me update this section as info becomes available!

Hi Andrew,

After days of reading forums (including all of this one), vendor sites, spring rate conversion sites, etc., I still can't decide if I should do what Subaru of America suggests: put their 2008 STI performance springs on my 2008 WRX. They detail how to do this in Drive Performance magazine:

http://driveperformance.subaru.com/v..._2/feature.asp

They've also sent me a coupon aimed at my 2008 WRX, for $100 off the STI spring set. To be crystal clear, the part numbers on these STI springs are B2010FG100 and B2010FG000. I'm assuming that means OEM US parts, but who knows, that info is never all in the same place at once, and all five kinds of pink springs look alike enough on websites. ;-) Do you think Subaru would be suggesting this upgrade if it were going to destroy my stock WRX struts?

Thanks for any advice!

after reading through the section for 02 wagons, I had some different experiences than what was listed.

I ran a Cobb sedan from sway bar on my 02 wagon for the last year with no problems. I put on sedan from control arms over the weekend to gain some negative camber after putting 04 STI springs and struts on the car. I was able to use the wagon front endlinks and half shafts with no problems.

I'm looking to increase the ground clearance on my 98 Impreza L Coupe by an inch or two. I've done a bit of research, but not a ton. There are some 05 Legacy Struts/Springs for sale in my area. Will these give me the lift I'm looking for? If not, what should I look for instead?

TIA.

I'm sure I didn't read enough and will get yelled at... but quick question: I have 04 STi suspension in my car(2000 impreza). This is everything aside from (currently) the struts. When I purchased the vehicle I was told they are version 6 sti inverted struts with p1 pink springs, and looks to be so. I did not purchase them or check them for authenticity so I say "I was told" this. Anyhow.... I was wondering if coilovers for a 93-01 impreza with bolt to the knuckles of an 04 sti? The v6 strut combo did with no problem, if thats what they are.. But are the knuckle bolt locations dimensionally the same for the older years as they are for the 02-04's? I know 05 used a different knuckle so luckily I don't have that year... (though it would of been nice for the 114.3x5) Any help is appreciated and sorry if I didn't search/read enough!

Thank you for saving me much time and monies, but also disappointing me with all this good info! I was thinking of swapping out my 02 WRX wagon suspension, for STI stock suspension, and after reading, realize it's just not that simple. So, thank you for the reality check, it was worth the reading, and looking forward to learning about what will work for my 02 wagon...

Got a question I'm still a bit confused on.

Switching out the suspension on my 02 WRX. Getting a set of 04 STi struts, 05-07 Tanabe GF210 springs, and camber bolts. Will 04 STi strut tops function in this case, or will I need 05-07? Scooby921 spacers are mandatory if I understand correctly?

Thanks for your time and answering the noob's question.

If you have the 04 struts, and 04+ sprigns, and 04+ top hats, the whole assembly will bolt in without any adapters/spacers needed.

How about 98 Legacy GT springs on 98 Impreza L struts/tophats...? If they do fit, what will it do to my ride height?

I recently put a MY06 STi spec C gearbox, front and rear drive shafts, hubs and R180 rear diff into a GC8 MY00.

The front and rear track has increased.

The sway bars look too short now. the support links for the sway bar at the rear are an angle / \, and the front sway bars appear too short.

Do I need to run 06 STi sway bars?

Any suggestions?

04 sti struts with 02-03 Prodrive springs with 02-03 tophats installed on a bugeye. Will these struts work with this setup? I couldnt find any solid verification that it would work. Pg1 references 04+ specific struts require 04+ springs???? TIA

here are some updates:

I have a 96 legacy L wagon and tried mounting up my 2004 wrx springs and struts. I have a set of 02 springs as well which i tried. in the front, the struts bolt right up just fine, HOWEVER: THE PERCHES DONT FIT. YOU WILL NEED NEW ONES DIRECTLY FROM THE DEALER. $75 and up, each. the rears, the springs will make it sag too much and can become a problem. not sure though will lowering springs though, ill be picking up a set of lowering springs for 02-04 for the struts and mount them up. need perches for the front, does anyone know if i'll need them for the rear as well?

Hi guys,
I recently purchased a 2005 wrx wagon (ok ok,... it's a saabaru..) and bought KONI inserts to do the swap.
However, I want to keep my oem struts, so I found a set of used 2002 WRX wagon struts (all 4 corners) that I plan to gut out in order to put the konis in.
I plan on reusing my oem top hats and all other hardware, springs, bump stops(except the struts).
I don't think I will have any issues with this setup given what I have read, but I just want to confirm to see if anyone thinks this will pose a problem.

Endlinks
Wagons require wagon specific front endlinks, unless you swap to sedan front control arms.

Im using 04-07 STi rear endlinks on my 04 wagon front sway. Theyre Whiteline Spherical endlinks. I just had to drill out the holes in the steel control arm to 12mm, which was cake. Since theyre length adjustable theyre pretty modular.
Aaand you can pretty much 'make' Whiteline Spherical ripoffs with parts from mcmaster.com or equivalent.

Hi everyone,

I have a 1996 impreza outback with stock kyb struts and stock springs. I know that the wrx wagon 02-03 springs will fit with the wrx rear top hats on my car. However, will 2007 wrx wagon springs fit on my wagon with the 07 rear top hats? Or will I need all four top hats?

Let me know guys, thanks!
