Greetings everyone,

First a little back story. I have a good friend in the automotive sales industry that happened upon a gravely abused 2013 STI at the auto auction in late 2013. The poor car had only 5981 miles on the clock and was without an engine to give it life and was missing quite and extensive list of other parts. My friend had the winning bid and brought it back to his car lot that evening.

Fast forward to St. Patty's Day 2014. Whilst enjoying some libations with my wife and this good friend, I made mention of another STI he had just acquired and said I wouldn't mind getting an STI for a pleasure car. He then made mention of the 2013 STI that he acquired in late '13. This of course peaked my interest.

Two weeks of begging and pleading with, albeit the greatest wife I could ask for, and I was on my way to the bank to discuss the loan to begin the trek back into a Subaru.

The mountain of parts that was needed to put this STI back together almost seemed insurmountable as I was combing over the car. It was of course with out engine, but also needed :
-Long block including turbo and intercooler
-Front and Rear seats
-Front bumper cover
-Rear bumper cover
-Side Skirts
-Wing
-Tail lights
-Spare tire and accessories
-Spare tire cover
-Rear cargo nets and cover
-Rear hatch plastic panels

As I searched the forums looking for parts to complete the "rescue" it became ever more apparent that a parts car was going to be in order. I then focused my searching to the online auto auctions that handle wrecked cars and found my answer. Another 2013 STI with driver side damage and LESS miles then the car that I was planning to revive.

The course was now plotted, go to bank and sign papers, go to friends dealership and buy STI, buy parts car from online auction, and build.

So enough of the chit chat on to some pictures

Project and donor car side by side.

Plasti-Dip?!?!?!?

If say, a new sti is 34k. How much did you "save" by getting into this?

Excellent job! Way to bring new life back into her.

As a word of advice, I recommend putting a clear tube on the middle outlet of your AOS. Many have reported oil coming back up into that tube during hard cornering or even during straight line pulls as you up the boost. A clear tube there will help you monitor if this starts happening to you.

As I increased power I started to see oil come back up that tube on my car. Which lead to the purchase of a secondary catch can between the AOS and the inlet. Just figured I'd give you a heads up.

Thanks for the heads up! I haven't driven the car since the onset of this lovely winter in the north east but I may have to heed your advice.

The weather in SW Pennsylvania has started to get a bit more palatable, so I went to the garage and ported my TGV housings and got the JDM STI skirts and the black side logos on.

Finally got some time have the goods installed and the car tuned.

I am very impressed with the Blouch 20GXT-R. I am hitting target boost of 20 PSI by 3500RPMs. And thanks to TPG tuning for working their magic.

Wow, legit build. I would never have the balls (or knowledge for that matter) to do something like this - much props.

Thanks man! It was definitely unnerving at the onset of the build.
