Default NY and NJ people with front lips and lowered cars please help me...

Ok so i just received my greddy front lip after 2 months of waiting (it was backordered) now i test fitted it on my car before i sent it off to get painted. my car has eibachs in it and 17inch wheels with a 45 profile tire. how low is too low in the front? how do you guys do with bumps, potholes, dips in the road, and driveways around here? im pretty worried about it being ripped off my car or getting really messed up if i hit a bump at a higher speed. besides driving sideways over all speed bumps and driveways, what else can i do? if i change my struts to AGX's would that make my car stiffer so there is less of a chance of the lip hitting the ground? is it really worth it or should i just sell it? it looks hot

I have Perrin springs and 50 profile tires on the stock wheels and I only scrape on my driveway and some speedbumps. It is all about how fast you go over it. If I go over speedbumps sideways it doesn't help as much. I would recommend just to take it slow over the "rough".

How about a PA answer? I have the same set-up except with the STI V1 lip, which is also very low. All I can say is be careful going up and down steep driveways. You will have to do it very slow. Like you said, if you do it too fast, when your shocks compress, you will hit. I scrape the bottom of mine alot, but you can't see the scrape marks.

I think it all depends how aware you are of the terrain that you drive through. On my e36 m3 I put on the m3 lwt front splitters and with the suspension lowered 3/4" all around I had about 2 1/2" of frt clearance and it was fine for the roads that I usually drove on. Of course they were made from durable abs plastic so minor scrapes going up driveways and such did nothing to them. My point is if you want to drive your car anywhere and be carefree about it then the frt lip is not for you. But if you are aware enough to try to avoid potholes and to take speedbumps and driveways at an angle then it shouldn't be a problem.

Final word of warning, I know a kid with a wrx that bought a frt lip(forgot what brand), including shipping from japan it cost him over $600. Got it painted for another hundred or so, and then not more than 2 weeks after he put it on he smashes it into a thousand pieces on one of those concrete parking barriers. Moral of the story is if you're careful enough and are aware of how low the frt of your car is it shouldn't be a problem

Default thanks

im pretty sure i'd be ok. its made out of abs plastic and looks pretty tough. i know the roads around here pretty well and dont have many driveways to go up. i'll just have to be more careful where i race and make sure its very smooth. see it looks very nice, i just test fitted it and it makes the car look so much better. i figure the bottom will get scraped up alot and thats fine. it will prob. give a little bit so that helps as well. hopefully after i change my shocks it'll be better and less body movement up and down over bumps in the road etc.

I used to have a Greddy lip and used to scrape everywhere. I'm now lowered on Cusco coilovers and the first thing I did before installing the coilovers was to remove and sell the lip. I come close to scraping as it is now. . .with a lip, it would probably be torn off within a few minutes. Just take it easy and you should be ok. You learn very quickly what roads to avoid.

Unhappy

Had a Greddy lip on stock suspension... key word is had.

This lip is too low for me, even though it looked badass, it broke while parking and the car slid on ice/snow, ripping half the lip off.

So I replaced it w/a STI V1 lip. Got eibachs on stock struts, w/17's. It's low, but still not as low as Greddy, I think at least. It looks great and I have no scraping problems, just be careful in driveways and parking lots entrances & exits. Handles good on the road w/little dips and bumps too.

E-mail ERAAB212- his car is lowered and has a front lip etc., etc., etc. He can also tell you about the trials and tribulations he's run into - especially those little furry speed bumps.
