Default RK Subaru in Virginia Beach

Thanks to this forum, I finally have a Subaru. I picked up an '04 Silver Sport Wagon today!

I got it at dealer invoice through IMBA and got a ton of options as well. My experience with Brett Lloyd at RK was really great. I had to wait 3 agonizing weeks until the shipment with my Scooby came in, but it was well worth it. I got SUPER low financing through Subaru, and everyone there was falling over themselves to please me. I don't really have any bad stories to tell and would highly recommend them to future buyers. Brett's dad is the service manager as well and the dealership is fairly mod-friendly to boot. If anyone is interested, give Brett a call at 486-222. Did I mention they have TWO STis on the lot right now currently with no takers??? Sadly, they are out of my price bracket for now.

whoever told you that this dealership is mod-friendly is blowing smoke up your a$$. i blew up an intercooler hose, and being kind of stuck in the middle of nowhere, i had it towed to the dealership under warranty...they took one look at my mods (tbe, bov, intake, rims) and refused to even consider warranty service. i figured out what happened myself with some help from friends on this forum, and told the tech what to look for. i had some samcos overnighted to me and had the tech put them on, just to get it off their lot. i drove right to the hobby shop on the base to check his work, and sure enough, he didn't tighten one of the clamps on the hose. it was hanging loose. $100 for the "diagnostic" which i actually did myself, and for some crappy work. at least i got a free tow out of it.
they also gave me a real runaround when i bought the car, the old "drive it home, the financing will go through, no problem" scam. they called me back a week later to tell me to bring the car back. they couldn't get the financing through any of their banks (i have good credit), and my only option was to give a much more substantial down-payment and take a higher interest rate...they then started to try to push a lease down my throat. i flat-out refused and i went to my credit union and got the loan in about an hour. this is a common scam that dealerships use. it was used on me once before, some years ago, and i told them "keep the car, by the way i drove the hell out of it".
i won't go back to this dealership again for any kind of "professional" service and i won't buy another car from them.

I just picked up my car on monday after some service. My subydude gaskets blew out and I had them replaced with OEM gaskets. I talked to Dan Lloyd, the service manager and asked him if they would perform non-warranty service by replacing my gaskets. Dan and I talked to their head mechanic and we all decided that it would only take 2 possibly 3 labor hours.

On monday I started the old "is my car ready" phone calls. I estimate that they spent 5 hours total on my car. I was told that the reason it took longer than normal is they actually did the install using the Vishnu instructions that I provided.

When I did the overnight drop off, the form asks for max $$$ amount before a phone call and I put $200. When I got my bill, it was $199.68. This was 3 labor hours and some really bogus charges to bump it up to near my max amount. Knowing that they did some free work, I think they did right by me by sticking to my max figure.

I know that in the past, there have been some mod problems with RK. Being active here in Hampton Roads, I have heard the stories. I am not saying RK loves mods, but if you need some work done, PM me and I will try to grease the wheels for you.

Default i have used RK Subaru before

I will never goo there again. service is a SCAM. they treat you GOLDEN til you are IN the door. then its downhill from there. poor service. they DO NOT like mods to CARS. they use it as an excuse to remove warranty. OR CHARGE you an ARM and a LEG to get work done. BS.

I really wish that I had checked this out prior to going to them for parts. I don't know if it was a new guy there or what. But, I went over there and told the guy, "I need front strut mounts for my 2000 Subaru Impreza". He gave me a blank stare... "I need parts".
Finally, I get a response. "What kind of car?"
"SU-BA-RU"
"ooookaaaayyyy...", looks blankly at computer (I think I see drool coming out of his mouth)
"Two- Thousand, Impreza 2.5 RS"
"uhhh,... what do you need?"
*oh, god smite this moron now!!!*"Front Strut MOUNTS"
"uhhhh... do you know the part number?"
"It comes up on the computer!!!"
"I can't find it, are you sure you have those?"
"I broke one, I'm pretty sure they are there."
Finally, I find an STi catalog and show it to him."This, I need this."
"OK"..."95 dollars"
*sweet!!! SUPER CHEAP!!!*"For the pair?!"
"uhhh... (scanning computer screen blankly again) no, each. It says here you are going to need to buy two"
I'm done being patient,"No ****, screw this, I can get these way cheaper somewhere else. Thanks for completely wasting my time."

I don't think I will ever go there again.

He could have at least known how to look up the part. I did everything but put his fingers on the keyboard.

I take Ron's word for good, maybe I just talked to the wrong guy. If I NEED something from them I'll go 'round the backdoor next time.

I actually have an interview with the head tech today. Starting to think it might be a bad idea and maybe I should get a job elsewhere from the looks of these comments.

No offense shaming, but if you're trying to support the dealer you supposedly work for, try proper grammar.

Went up to RK yesterday to help my father buy a crosstrek. Went pretty well but they sure do not like you pulling out a truecar.com sheet and putting it in front of them. We ended up getting the deal we wanted and even had a good talk with the service manager about baseball.
