![]() This is the truth right here ^^^^^. With the impeding CAFE standards upon all auto manufacturers I would have expected golf-ball texture to take over all of Subaru's line up.
SIGH I am really disappointed. ![]() |

While mpg is not stated it's assumed that better aerodynamics will lead to improved mpg. We are only making fun of it because we know it doesn't really matter. |

![]() Subaru didn't explicitly state MPG but discusses several items related to the "bold" exterior styling.
https://media.subaru.com/newsrelease.do?id=1790 1.) Front vents - Improved front stability and reduced lift on the front tires 2.) Rear bumper outlets - reduces body sway 3.) underside & channels - increased downforce 4.) golf ball texture - reduces air resistance Reduced air resistance/lower Cd is for two things - increased fuel efficiency & higher top speed. Based on Subarus press release, what do you think the goal of the textured plastic was? |

![]() I think the current is fantastic. As far as body lines it really filled that void left from the LGT -in my weird mind anyway lol. Though, as we all know, bigger isn't always better. Wish there was more euro spec mentality like they did for the 4th Gen Legacy.

![]() One positive I like is the fog light area.
But adding the Solterra-esk bumper cladding with a fake vent doesn't look great. At least they could have made it functional or put led accent/drl lights in there. It reminds me of the last Forester XT with the fake bumper vents. |

![]() I prefer this look to the current model. But I cannot unsee Alice Cooper or any number of 70's shock rockers in white. The other colors will be much better IMO.

I do like the current version and pretty much think it's the best looking of all of them(once I got past the cross-eyed look). I was thinking I may like this better when I first saw it; but, it wasn't very large up on the screen. Now, I want to see what it looks like at night(headlights and fogs) cause I like the current fogs better. |

![]() Okay, and? Basic hypothesis. I don't expect Subaru to tell us everything, like how much they sucked at tuning their EJ engines for CAFE. Except until recently, when they admitted they couldn't make the STI as we know it... because of CAFE.
I'm just not really sure what your argument is, SoDealer. If textured plastic is beneficial for one, why is it not beneficial for all, regardless of MPG gains or not? On another topic, Justy and I have discussed this personally, but apparently I'm one of the few who really liked the design of the previous gen OB. I have friends who had one and then purchased a 2021 OBXT and they stated they miss their old OB. A lot of it has to do with the touchscreen interface being awful. |

![]() ![]() ![]() I can also see the comments coming now....."But, no one drives their car soo fast as to need that; so, still a waste cause it's butt ugly!" To which, I can't really argue someone not likely the look aspects of it. |

![]() It's the defenders of the texture that made up the MPG benefits. The rest of us are just rolling our eyes because we see through the bs. Show me some actual race cars that utilize this, and maybe there's a story.... The fact that they're not putting it on all of their cars is telling that it's not doing a damn thing.
