Pm'ed you! About to do my own retrofit but I'd like to see what you have and what you'd charge for yours first!

Is there a thread somewhere with instructions for getting good night shots of beam patterns and cutoffs?

Hey man, it cost 125 for the eBay headlight housings, and 375 for the projector kit. Fits only on bugeye, the bulbs are 5500 if I remember correctly. The labor to retrofit the eBay headlights is no easy task, and the headlights were only on my car for 6 months before I got rid of the car. You can see the date I completed the retrofit within this thread, but I say 6 months because I finished the retrofit last summer and took the car to school. At school it was hardly driven and garage kept. The aiming could be adjusted slightly, but the adjusters all work fine so that shouldn't be an issue. The reason I got the eBay headlights is because the adjusters broke in the process of retrofitting and I couldn't aim the headlights properly. Make an offer based upon that, been asking 500 since that was the cost of the parts, they are practically brand new, if cleaned the lenses look brand new, and the labor is a bitch..

I do not, unfortunately. They are bright, and work as they should

How do you expect to sell retrofitted headlights without beam shots?

Pics are broken. Any chances the pics can be reuploaded? Maybe to imgur? Or do anyone know if this thread exists anywhere else with working pics?

I am wanting to do this. Car is in repair sitting in the garage on blocks, so the opportunity is here. I have a question: What did you all do about the OEM DRLs for the retrofit to HIDs?

Do the fog light mod and also disable the DRLs. They only cause problems.

Default wiring changes model year

Were there any changes in any of the headlight wiring from 02 to 03? Random

How much does a completed bugeye retrofit usually cost around here?

I believe that just means your fog lights are on. Try turning them off and see if the lights go away

Hate to revive an old thread.

I'm in the middle of the retrofit and I am using the ocular shrouds, but I don't have any way to mount the shroud to the projector. It sits on top of it but I have no way of connecting them. Anyone else have this issue? What is supposed to connect the shroud to the projector?

jb weld, epoxy, liquid nails - anything that'll take a high temp will do nicely

All -

So sorry about the pics in the post. I put in a lot of work to this how-to and I feel like ppl were benefiting from it, but alas, photobucket went full moron.

To be honest, I don't have the original photos anymore, and photobucket wanted some ridiculous amount to retrieve photos. It's a crime, really. I have since switched over to imgur, but I can't really do much about this post.

If you PM me, I can answer questions directly, but I don't really check the thread often.

DISREGARD PREVIOUS POST.

I retract my previous statement. Photobucket has actually updated their site and users can retrieve their photos for free. AllI did was to reclaim my account and the pictures were restored.

Hope this thread continues to help retrofitters!

So I've been running my retrofit with this exact setup and I only have 1 issue now. My DRLs on my bugeye do not function as they used to with the stock headlights. They used to toggle between the DRLs and the low beams, but now my low beam and DRLs will be on together and I'd like to retain the old functionality of toggling.
To be more specific, when I turn my headlight stalk to the off position but am driving around town, I would like my DRLs on but my low beams off. When I manually turn my headlights on, I would like my DRLs to turn off. Does anybody know how to accomplish this?

Here's a pic of my car, and thanks for any and all help.

One way: Make sure the DRL resistor in the engine bay and the DRL controller behind/under the glove box compartment are reconnected (per OE configuration). This will make the DRL function as intended when you use OE headlights. Then, make a relay circuit that takes "power" from something that turns on alongside the ignition key. Use the high beam as the "signal" source, which will have lower voltage during DRL and normal full voltage during high beam. For the relay, find one that has an "always closed" pin (most 4-pin automotive relays are of the "always open" type, where the presence of current on the signal side closes the circuit on the power side; whereas "always closed" type makes presence of current on the signal side opens the circuit on the power side) with a voltage threshold that is between the lower DRL voltage and the full voltage.

Another: Same thing on the "power" side, but use the low beam as the "signal source", with a relay that has an "always closed" pin. When ignition is on but low beams are off, the circuit is closed (i.e. DRL gets power). When ignition is on and low beams are on, the circuit is open (i.e. DRL doesn't get power). In this case, it doesn't matter what the DRL circuit does, so you can either revert the DRL resistor and controller per OE or not.

Thanks! I'll look into that

Default DIY: Bugeye HID Projector Retrofit (Morimoto Mini H1 4.1) - Minimal Modifications

I did my first Morimoto projector retrofit in 2013, I sold that wagon. I find myself in the middle of a Morimoto projector installation now that I own a bugeye again. Started yesterday and ran into a problem right away when started testing projector fitment. The new projector threads stripped wile reversing the nut out. They unthread properly one or two threads and they begin to cross thread. I managed to damage both projectors that way. Now I’m waiting to hear from Lightwerkz to see if There is any recourse, I’m beyond frustrated.

Lightwerkz answered my email quickly, politely and took care of the situation promptly. That is real customer service, those guys earned my business exclusively from here on.
