Default Need 12v switched, close to mini fuse box in 04 WRX

Edit: Moved to Electrical forum

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Looking for the right wire to tap for 12v switched power close to the mini fuse box on the drivers side in an 04 WRX Sti, using for a radar detector, I'm trying to stay away from using a fuse tap for power....

Done a few searches and ended up confused on the different years with different colored wires.

Thanks.

you can tap off OEM stereo harness:

#10 slot is a YG (yellow-green???) wire that is switched 12 volts.

make sure to verify this before cutting or using a 3m tap...

Actually, I've read in this forum in the FAQ & Threads of Note that there are some differences in the pre '02 cars and the post '02 cars. Here's a link to the post '02 stock HU wiring harness - I'm guessing that the color codes will be identical to that of the stock STI.

On a related note, I too am looking for a source of 12V power signal for an amp install on a friend's WRX with the stock HU. Can I just tap into the #10 wire in the linked diagram?
