Should be able to find a remote tuner and buy the Ecutek flashing cable/license to handle the switch back between maps yourself.

We aren't at all now due to government budgeting and stuff; but, we used to have to every year to renew license plates in Shelby County, TN. Even new cars. Same process checked other things including headlights. Tried to fail me on my '04 STi headlights. Fully stock.

In CT you get smog checked initially when the vehicle is four years of age, then every two years after that.

Still really want to pick one of these up.

Just shattered my left tibia though, so I've got a good bit of time to go until I'll be able to bear weight on my leg, let alone operate a clutch. Might just help supply and demand level out a bit, I've seen some BRZ's on lots locally.

Geez. A good friend of mine's husband recently had a motorcycle accident and they had to put a rod on his tibia and several other surgeries. Hope for a fast recovery.

When the trauma surgeon comes in and says it's a bad break, you know it's a bad one... I'm meeting again on Monday for the first time since the surgery, so I'm interested to get his take on it while I'm not half conscious from the anesthesia. CT scan showed like 5-6 different pieces, and it broke up through the joint, so a plateau fracture. 2 plates and an unknown number of screws... can't bear any weight till the bones are fully healed, then it's on to joint movement, then strength. I've got a one up on the strength side as I was strength training 4 days a week up to the accident, pretty strong for my weight - so I hope the latter half of PT goes quick, just need to get the mobility back first. Thankfully my surgeon is a sports doc who specializes in knee issues, so I feel like I'm on the right path...

Maybe some follow up surgeries too, he mentioned that if there was any damage to ligaments or other stuff, we need to wait for the bones to heal first, then we address those. After surgery he thought that all of the other stuff looked okay and stability felt good, so my fingers are crossed, but that's still going to be unknown until I can start weight bearing exercises. Oh and since I'm on the skinny side, he said I'll probably want to get the hardware taken out, but that's not for another year+, and I should heal relatively quickly from that. It's a journey.

I've been boarding for 25 years and I ride hard (steeps, cliffs, that sort of thing). Kinda surprised, but grateful this is the first time I've had something like this...

crap man, yeah sorry to hear. Good to get it out of the karmatic system now while you're young (presumably in 30s or 40s, even 50s I'd call young for this type of thing.) For how disciplined you sound, will be like nothing ever happened in less than a year.

It's scary watching a few of my cycling buddies going through very similar process right now as well, so I have an idea of where you're at. Their surgeries are all because they're old, getting joints replaced and stuff so it's more like maintenance. But going through that kind of thing at advanced age, outcomes aren't guaranteed

Thanks man, really hoping for that year turn around! Definitely conditioned for the road that lies ahead of me. Ready to put in the hours to return full force. In my late 30's and being told that I'm on the "young" side for recovering from an injury like this, so it should go well.

I'm a bit nervous about the long term for this knee now... obviously an increased risk of arthritis, and maybe even needing a full replacement down the line. It's my left knee and as a regular stanced snowboarder, that means the board hangs on this knee on the lifts, not so ideal.

Hey man I wish you a speedy recovery too. That absolutely sucks.. but it sounds like youre keeping an upbeat attitude about it which is awesome. The doctors will have you ready in no time. I think thats why they make you hit physical therapy so hard when you break anything. Don't forget those Calcium and D vitamins!

It's markedly better than 2.0 in the original, but it's still not enough for some of us; and to those saying "if you want a turbo get a WRX" they have about the same power:weight ratio, so all you're getting is a fatter still slow car with extra doors and extra drive wheels; I'm okay with the doors, just not the extra drive wheels, and I'd like to avoid the fat as well.

BRZ-L/GR86-P 6mt: 228hp/2,880lbs ~12.6lbs:hp
WRX-L 6mt: 271/3,400lbs ~12.6lbs:1hp

In a 2+2 or 4 seat RWD it's it's either "light" and underpowered or heavy and powerful.
Mustang GT-P 6mt: 450hp/3,800lbs ~8.4lbs:1hp
Camaro 2SS 6mt: 455hp/3,700lbs ~8.1lbs:1hp

CT4V BW 6mt: 477hp/3,900lbs ~8.2lbs:1hp
M3 6mt: 473hp/3,900lbs ~8.2lbs:hp

Admittedly I do not want the 2.4DIT in it's current form dropped in the BRZ/86, that low 6,100 RPM redline is uninspiring to say the least.

I'm not saying Subaru/Toyota should drop the N.A. 4 model & only do a turbo model, but I am saying they should do a higher trim Turbo model, but that might step on the toes of the Supra 2.0, as it would undercut the price by at least 5k if not more.

Just venting my frustrations again, feel free to ignore it.

what they need to do is a higher trim that gets the GRC motor instead of the Subaru motor. We know it fits. They just need to make the business case to sell it I guess.

Ya, you are comparing a bunch of heavy muscle cars and euro sports sedans to the twins.

Miata, S2000, and the twins. Those are the cars in that category. You could throw in old Caymans/Boxsters too if you want.

But if you REALLY want more power, ya the 2.0 Supra and even the new 230i are good options for not a lot more money. The twins are selling just fine now that they have the power people wanted without other complications that come with turbo engines.

That's just it, the options are lightweight and not enough power, or a porker with good power; I want lightweight (for 2023 anyways) 4seats, FMR, 6mt, with a good power to weight ratio; 10lb:1hp would be fine, I'll take the 8.X:1 of the heavyweights in a light car all day; but if you want a good power to weight ratio, it comes with at least 700lbs of curb weight

-230i is auto only and 3,600lbs; might as well get one of the other heavyweights I mentioned and get way more power; Camaro is 100lbs heavier but has way more power, a V8 & a Manual.

-Supra 2.0 is at least comparatively "light" at 3,200lbs, but again, auto only and 2-seater; and the power to weight is right in line with the BRZ/GR86 at 12.6lbs:1hp. (granted BMW engine so possibly underrated, and turbo from the factory, so you can turn the wick up at a later date if you so desire).

Just looking for that goldilocks car; BRZ/GR86 with ~300hp *cough.cough.GR.Corolla.power.plant.cough.cough* would be ideal.
