I am doing a front axle swap this weekend and expect to lose some fluid. It is currently filled with Extra-S and I am wondering if I should top it off with one of the other fluids in the cocktail. I am not sure if I can source ALL the fluids before Saturday. Any suggestions?

I changed out my tranny oil with this cocktail this past weekend and to begin with I didnt have any problems getting in or out of gears, just thought it might make shifting a little smoother but I neither saw or felt any difference from the oil you can get from subaru.
I'm not putting down this cocktail, Im just stating my experience with it. |

Put this in this weekend and my fluid seemed pretty clean that came out, but I bought the car at a dealer, so I don't know if maybe it had been changed. In any case, feels very silky and would definitely recommend to anyone thinking of doing it. Didn't have any issues with it when I changed it, but can notice improved shifting to first gear. Seems to just slip in rather than having to hold it there while pressing lightly to get everything to line up. Positive change in my book!

Severe grinding going into 1st, and 4th. After the cocktail, all is FIXED!! I couldn't believe what a difference this combo makes! I am still in absolute shock, I've been driving 2k+ miles on it now, and my wore out 5MT hasn't missed a beat! |

I searched this thread, but to no avail. Any comments from the readership on difference in cocktail pour-in sequence in this thread:
"2qt castrol 80w90 hypoyC 1qt lightweight [ed: now heavy] SHOCKPROOF top off with penzoil synchromesh" And the sequence on the Grimmspeed webpage for the same basic ingredients claiming to be the USC: "When filling up your transmission you will use ALL of Penzoil synchromesh, all the lightweight Shockproof, and 1 full bottle of the Castrol Hypoy C, then you use approx. 1/3 to 1/2 of the remaining Hypoy C until the transmission is full." I know, get it from the horse's mouth, and the sequence in the thread makes sense from the bit I've read about synchromesh's properties. thanks.... my current box has motul gear 300 in it. i've got a quart of hypoy. will draining a quart of the gear 300 and putting the hypoy in be that beneficial or is it a waste of time/i'll just wait and get all the other stuff?
also there an alternative to pennzoil synchromesh? can't get it where i live. i can get this instead http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Amsoil-Ma...item2a1b682d17 and this http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Amsoil-Se...item1c12a438eb but pennzoil is a very good dino synchro whereas amsoil is a synthetic synchro. what do you recommend? I hear an echo.... Oh, and Scotty, haven't seen you over on the dirty side in a hot minute. We scare you away with our dirty, lifted cars and the metal bumpers and lights?

I've had amsoil severe gear in the car for just under the 1000 miles. I put 4 qts in the trans, I figure not being pressurized more than the 3.8 won't matter - in fact, I'd like to add a 1/2 qt more. That's part of the question, as to whether or not it's a benefit to add a little extra, though the main question is if it's ok adding fresh oil to oil that's been in the trans for ~800 miles.
