Default BPM Short throw shifter

i had my sights set on the sti short throw. browsing through the boards its clear that the kartboy is a favorite but having not tried any shifters i did not know what to think. as im sure a lot of people think, i thought the sti would be the best choice because A) it replaces the whole linkage, and B) uhh.... its sti!

so i was at z1 performance and adam let me sit in his legacy and run it through the gears. He had a BPM short throw. I was amazed at how short it was compared to my stock throws in my impreza. That night i came across a kid that had the STI short throw in his wrx, he let me throw it through the gears... and i was absolutely shocked at how close to stock the throws were! The same loose sloppy feel as stock! i couldnt tell that they were shorter! WOW am i glad that i didnt shell out all my money for that.

So BPM shifter it was. i picked it up from adam later that week and used the leftover money for a strut bar. Install was straight forward. THe stock shifter pulled right out with a little muscle. At first we could not find a mallot to whack the BPM into place so we were pushing on it and using the screwdriver idea that i read somewhere. After about a half our of nonsence the shifter still wasnt in. I was gettin impatient!! Finally my friend found the mallot and after about three whacks.... 3 because it takes you a second to realize that you really to have to smack the crap out of it to get it to pop in. Then it was in, no problem. Reconnected everything, popped the molding back on and WOW. this shifter is great. i believe its advertised at about a 40 percent shorter throw than stock and i would say that this is right. now to order the bushings.
