I figure it's time for an update.. 50k + miles on these axles!!
They had a slight break, from the 05 auto FXT and now back to use!

They are currently in my STI Forester swapped. Running a JDM STI Forester 6mt and pushing 400whp and 420wtq..
Currently waiting on a Dom 4 XTR, in the mail.. time to play!
Just a stepping stone, before I get a new clutch and mount my rotated kit and meth kit..
Should be around 500whp on pump and 700 on meth..
Time to give em the full test!!

i was just wondering how the axles are, if u used sedan axles or what kind of suspension u running. sedan or wagon. i have a 02 bugeye wagon w 1.5 dom, blew up 2nd gear and now i swapped it w 06 sti. still have my stock diff and axles. wanna upgrade to sti diff and axle later.

interesting how their website no longer list the 'male-to-male' front axles the GD chassis. I just e-mailed them and will report back when I get a response

Been awhile since , but I got 04 sti insane front axles. I think there the same as 02-03 wrx axles and some gc axles w female ends. Also put 04 sti rear hubs I got from my bro friend that I did some work on his rs w sti swap. Now I got 07 st diff w insane rear axles. So my drivetrain minus the engine is good for 500hp. I measured the front and rear axles . The front are the same and the rear is about 1.25 longer from wagon axles compared to gd axles.

1.25 inches per axle?? Seems like a lot, no?

They replied back and said they have them. So if that's what you're looking for just e-mail them if their website still isn't updated in the future.

Ill throw my two cents in since i just saw this thread get bumped, ive been using Insane shafts R180 adapter axles for the swap cars i build. I also have their front axles in my personal car with 40-50k miles on them, including 4 cross country road trips and dozens of track days, dragon trips etc etc. Ive had 1 rear boot rip on me, which wasnt covered under warranty but they next-day air'ed me replacements. Ive had one person that blew an outer joint probably from driving with a blown boot, the axle was warrantied no questions asked.

For the price, i feel the quality is good and it gets the job done without fuss. The only demerit i can even complain about, is the axles are bare steel and not coated/painted with anything, they'll develop surface rust quickly so i recommend at least painting them.

Nah not really I’ve been driving on them about 6k miles no so far no issues and I tracked the car at willows in January. I do have whiteline adj links and rear camber plates. So I adjust it so it has a little side to side movement. The stock sti 17x7.5 et 53 5x100 225/45/17 fits good. I can probably go 235. But for my ssr 18x8.5 et 44 on 225 I had to roll the fenders. It -1 degree camber all around

Update:

I have 2 complaints

The car makes under 300whp, and though the clutch is aggressive, the car generally bogs rather than leaving hard. This has happened after putting a twin plate and aluminum driveshaft on for this season. Both broken a couple months apart. My rear diff has pretty strong preload as well, so some of this could be fatigue in addition to the increased shock load.

However, I'm not convinced the grooved shafts aren't acting as a stress riser. Back to autozone axles for me, for now...

Wow what kind of setup u running. Surprise the spider gears on the r160 hasn’t blown yet. I would hit him up he’ll warranty them. That twin clutch is gonna break a lot of stuff. U running the 5 spd or 6 spd. I blew 2nd gear 6 month after I tuned it w the blouch 1.5 dom 301hp and 290 ft lb to the wheel. Running the Wrx exedy hd stage 1 clutch. Oem flywheel.

16g-xtr, USDM ej205, 91oct virtual dyno said 275whp/260wtq with my old 5 speed and old heavy wheels several years ago

Now 6 speed DCCD, r160 Kaaz 1.5 way LSD, DSS aluminum driveshaft, and 275/35/18 RE71R

These are the only axles I've ever broken in this car, I've just had some fronts get noisy in the past that I've replaced

I'm going to take some preload out of the diff, because it makes quite a bit of noise when turning at parking lot speed. That noise is the axles being loaded in alternating directions until the LSD clutch plates slip. I'm also going to make a new map on my DCCD controller that locks it under 5mph so that I can try and distribute the torque between all 4 wheels better on launch

Dss aluminum drive shaft. Is yours 3” or 2.75. I had a 3” one and I couldn’t fit it under my wagon . ESPECIALLY after I just changes the bushings and painted it. So I returned it and got a carbon fiber one. Dss had to balance it like twice. I still think it’s not 100 percent. Might sell it. They’d f up and gave me a r160 flange instead . Idk about the customer service there. Took about a month . To get the driveshaft back. A get a vibration around 80 and goes away . I know the shaft cuz the sti ones doesn’t do it and it’s way less noise. I run the dssdpro slider. I just leave it on auto. It’s my daily. That’s gotta be hard on everything since it locks up frequently.

Weird that broke, ive had ISS axles in two of my cars for years, a bunch of cross country road trips, autox and track events, and ive never had an issue with them. Including using them with kaaz lsd's.

Bumping this. I'm thinking I may have seen something about Insane Axles a few years ago, but just now got excited about another brand.

Building my '01 Outback and have been pulling apart OE greens and all the aftermarket Chinese axles apart to see what crap they are. Only pushing like 120 BHP, so I don't need drag axles, but I've gotten really agitated with what junk is constantly being peddled from China that doesn't last but a few blocks. In fact, I've tracked a bunch of the box store axles to Trakmotive axles that are all made at the same location in China and are getting re-boxed and marked up as several other brands.

Just recently, I ordered some DSS axles through Summit Racing. I'm told that DSS doesn't sell through Summit. Summit shipped me one front axle that they showed in stock and an Interparts HK axle showed up. HK being Hong Kong. I haven't yet figured out what went on here, but I got the return label for the Interparts axle.

I took the time to confirm that Imprezas and Outbacks use the same front axles, so those are a direct fit. However, better axles for the rear have only been for Imprezas and Foresters which use the same, smaller rear bearings.

Insane appears to be the only other place (other than Rock Auto) that will show that some parts cross between Imprezas, STis, Outbacks, etc. I've been buying parts for my Outback that are listed as Impreza/STi ONLY, yet they fit just fine.

I'm going to try these axles out if communication plays out well and they have some in stock. They'll get plenty of praise from me if they can work out some rear axles that are a direct fit as it seems like everyone else blows it off.
