I think he saying that you obviousky have good gear so why not put a little more effort into it. Not every picture has to be amazing but when there is no effort it looks like a snapshot and not a "picture"

I agree with you there. There are all different levels and types and I guess there is no right or wrong but there are the basics that need to be addressed. I'm a newb so I can't really say much.

If I end up going to the GT race here in Bahrain, I'll see if I can get into some "good" seats to take some shots! Still not sure if I'm going though.

problem w current FIA spec F1 courses is there are a lot of fences. prolly would need to sit high i think. or if your close w a proper zoom you can shoot through the fence, i did that from the grandstands at the the daytona 24 hr for the start this year

Sampe:
Through the fence point directly through the fence

Shot w the fence in view, but gives it a good look i thought.

ALL shot w a 300 2.8

Both Shot with:
D300s
Tamron 24-75 2.8

Looks like you still got some decent shots, even through the fence. Really all comes down to where the seats are located, some have fences and some have great locations. Still not sure if i'll end up going or not, we'll see! I'll try my best to score some good pics

We need to do this shot again with the window up, wheel turned and a CP filter. It will be awesome!

Not really. Not editing a RAW photo is technically wrong. It is a negative. It isn't an opinion...it is what that file is designed for specifically. If you don't believe me...listen to every other photographer in the world.

If you are shooting in RAW...yes...JPEG...not as much. Camera model and brand is irrelevant.

Personally, I would bring the car lower in the frame and bring in a little bit more bridge as well to get more perspective and the car in the lower 1/3. It is very centered as it sits right now. Cool location!

I love the car...just not sure how I feel about this shot overall. I should have dropped the ISO down and slowed up the shutter speed.

Looks good. You almost got perfectly even reflections on both sides of the car. The only thing that is different is the drivers headlight.

That is what you are not getting. This is not opinion. It is what RAW files are implicitly designed for. They are never supposed to see the light of day straight out of the camera without adjustments by design.

What you see in your LCD on the camera after you shoot using the RAW format is not even what you see on the file straight out of the camera. Your camera applies default settings to the file when displaying it in the LCD.
