Not a ton today, just been working on adjustments to the tune. Having fun with that.

Not just today but recently replaced my headlights with some Morimoto XBs. I wired up the Valenti tails and they look great too. Hammered the scheisse out of my mud flap frame to reinstall after a backing into the driveway incident. Gonna need to do something about the driveway because it might happen again lol. Parked near my dream wagon RS6 during a Starbies/NAPA run too. Car is massive irl, but not in a bad way. The wheels and calipers oh my.

Also on close to 11k on my Blizzaks (9k from my previous WRX). Driving into work at 38 is fine but driving home it was close to 70! Once these are toast I will probably try to find something a little more friendly for the transitional seasons.

Default Timing belt

I brought my 2008 Impreza to the Subaru dealer to get the timing belt replaced, I figured if there's one thing I should have the dealer work on, it's the timing belt.

I was charged around $1500, I was a bit annoyed because they didn't replace the water pump and coolant - I wasn't charged for that but I would've liked to have that work done… The car has 192,000 miles on it and it's due for inspection 4/1 - hoping to get 1 more year out of it…

Default What'd you do to your subie today?

Took my bugeye to the good people at Rallispec to install new oem cv axles with new stubs and aluminum control arms. Car drives awesome, I’m super stoked.
Can’t say enough good about Rallispec, great service and people. Totally worth the 3 hour each way trip.

Default What did I do to my new 11/24 WRX Wagon

First we washed it,Melbourne only has dirty rain
Then we fitted the new Waist Spoiler that look really good on the wagon
Installed a new oil cap aluminium red with STI engraved
Then fitted a red aluminium pulley cover

Default Spark plugs!

Changed spark plugs! My 2008 Subie now has 193k miles on the odometer and was misfiring. I was expecting some oil/carbon deposits on the old plugs, but man, they were clean - the tip was worn down to a tiny point, but clean! The only problem I kept running into was the socket I used to remove the plug was disconnecting from the ratchet and getting stuck in the "tunnel" - so annoying, I used some duct tape on the socket which made a tighter fit between the socket an ratchet and I managed to get the plugs out. No more misfires!

Washed it by hand as the neighbors went out and leased another new SUV. Nobody takes care of, or fixes their stuff anymore. Cars, phones. Everyone just replaces everything every 2-3 years. Such a waste.

I finally scored some classic STI BBS’s for my hawkeye, something I have wanted to do for years.

They’re in almost mint condition and ceramic coated. I am so happy. Good ones are hard to find in the 5x100 bolt pattern.

Totally agreed. I constantly get comments on my old car, old road bike, old smart phones, old boots with new soles, whatever. I see it as a badge of honor.

Hi,
I took my 18 Impreza Sport to an independent garage get the rear pads and rotors changed using OEM Subaru parts. The brakes work fine and the grinding noise I had (low pads and rusted rotors) is now gone. However, the parking brake has become noticeably stiffer than before. Before the repair, the handle would click ~ 5 times on its way up, but I only get ~ 2/3 clicks when I pull it up with the same force.

I'm wondering if this is normal (because the pads are new and thicker and engage faster) or if the mechanic over-tightened the parking brake cable when installing the new parts. Should I call the garage and get them to fix this?

I did this over the past couple weekends. I mounted my summer wheel/tire setup, Enkei TSP6s on brand new Continental ECS02 tires. On top of that I stuck my eBay lip back on, which is falling apart, then I moved onto the maintenance on my to-do list. I replaced spark plugs, air filter, oil filter, engine oil, diff oil, and trans oil.

I am hoping it doesn't rain tomorrow so I can do the cabin air filter and a good interior detailing.

I tried to crack two of my turbo to up pipe nuts loose. Absolutely no movement. I think next I'll run the car so the nuts get nice and toasty with the pb blaster I sprayed on them today.

Got one nut off, rounded the second one and started spinning the stud. Irwin bolt extractor set to the rescue, got the nut off no problem. I decided that the turbo wasn't hurt and put a new nut on and called it a day. Man do I miss having a lift to use, working under the car on my back is exhausting.

Oh and I dropped in a secondhand Koyo rad since my stocker is pushing 13 years old. Now I'm fighting with rad hose leaks where the upper hose meets the engine block, and it's nearly impossible to get to that area to get the spring clamp on nice without a 90 degree pliers. Fun times. At least I have some shiny aluminum parts now.

Put on my cobb turbo heat shield since I finally decided I'm not taking the turbo off any time soon. I shouldn't mess with anything from now on but who knows. If I get into autocross that means camber mods and alignment. So at least its suspension and not engine stuff.
