I remember a dealer many years ago that bought up every prime air cooled Porsche turbo and then tried to sell them at 2X market rate. Everyone laughed. Those prices would be a smoking deal today.

You'll find out in 2 seconds if it's a scam by the response you get

Everyone has already explained why it sounds fishy.

And actually I could afford to spend $50k for an STI if I wanted to, so no need to be bitter just because you can't and pretend like the only reason not to do that is because somebody doesn't have the money.
People don't do that because it makes no sense.

Again, it was pumped off an assembly line 6 years ago, the story is moronic. I guess he either hit the lotto 2 years ago or he didn't even want the car in 2014 when it could be had for $35k brand new at any dealer on earth?????

Definitely. If you're a rich guy who loves cars there's money to be made. I knew a bay area guy that bought up a bunch of 1980-90 super cars (e.g., Ferrari F40s, 288 GTOs, etc) back in the 1990s. He just loved cars. I should have bought a 965 slantnose 911. They were dirt cheap in the past.

I agree. And I bet the buyer didn't even care about the sti when he was a kid. It's something that probably only recently popped up on his radar and he snagged it up to add to his collection on a whim.

The same day he bought that 50k sti he bought a 1966 Oldsmobile 442 Tri-Power 4-Speed for 75,500. In one day he spent what most dream of making in a year. And look at his purchase history, every few weeks he drops tens of thousands of dollars on random toys.

I emailed the guy, this is the response I got lol

"Hi, the car is still available for $17,000. It has 15,581 miles, clean title in hand, no accidents and no liens, 2 keys, never smoked in, garage kept, selling it only to put a down payment on a new house. I have left the car with a broker with all the paperwork (title signed by me, keys) since I am currently in Montreal, Canada with my new work contract as a pilot for First Air. Let me know if you are interested so I can put you in contact with them so you can inspect it, they have full Power of Attorney to sell it on my behalf."

Yep, that couldn't possibly be fake. Sergey Brin, Larry Page and Zuckerberg all put together couldn't figure out how to pull some pics from the internet and stick a nice dollar amount font in bright green next to them and lay them out under a screen name. That would be breaking internet honesty laws.

GD's have gone WAY up in value in good condition....Hagerty is just one example of a source confirming that they are approaching what they cost when they were new, if low miles no accidents 1 or 2 owner and original drivetrain with 1 or 2 mods. 25-35,000 now.
