Looking to buy a car with no title...what to do?
hey guys, i'm considering buying a car but the owner doesnt have the title.
he writes: "i have a carfax on the car and the original owners info but no title, i called the secretary of state and theres nothing reported on the vehicle, so the only issue is getting a title" what do you guys think? has anyone ever delt with this issue before? how hard is it to get one? it seems that the guy may never have gotten the title from the original owner... i'm going to call him later today and talk to him about it but any info from anyone that may have delt with this kind of thing would be great. thanks...

its not like the thing is a "1 of a kind" car.i havent seen it and im sure of this. and if its sooo good of a deal, that should raise a red flag and give you your answer.
dont buy it. find the same one somewhere else if you want it that bad. alittle common sense goes far. |

thanks for the reply guys...
yeah, i would never pay anyone anything until i get the title but i was just wondering how hard it would be for him or me to get the title and then the sale would take place... i wasnt born yesterday so i know not to trust people... it's a galant vr-4. i love these cars so i was hoping to get it worked out but i dont know if i have the time to work this out and be safe for me... |

I bought a car from a friend of a friend that "disappeared" in Bali. My friend filed for his lost title and I was able to get it just fine.

I'd hold out for the seller to get a legit title. If he's not willing to do that then walk away...FAST.

If he doesn't have the title then the car isn't legally his to sell.

what kind of car is it?
you can go through a title company that will basically take advantage of the loophole in Georgia where if you have a bill of sale you can get a title so you "sell it" to the company, they get a Georgia title and "sell it" to you so you can use the Georgia title to register it wherever... but yeah, make that guy get a title first |
