I just did my wheels in Plasti Dip gun metal (face and barrel). The gun metal has a noticeable blue-ish tent to it that I wasn't expecting. I still like how they turned out though.

They look good. I think they look blueish since they're on a black car.
If it was on a different color car they might not look blueish.
I don't, I like it either way!

I plastdipped my emblems and while taking off the excess this is what happened. The chrome trim around around the letters came off. I was thinking of doing the "I" over, but I kind of like the way it gets set off.

I recently did a full suspension upgrade and decided that my white sprayed winter rims needed a different look. I eventually found my way to a few youtube videos on plasti dip so I decided to give it a try.

Before

After

After the first can everything was going pretty smooth with the application of the product, until the 2nd can or so the paint started to chunk and glob out the nozzle. I tried to free the nozzle of plasti dip but It never worked. The half to full can was not spraying like it should and so the plasti dip ended up going on very think and gave it a bumpy look until it eventually dried. So after a few cans I realized using the first part of the can is best on the face of the rim and towards the end of the can when it starts to gum up use the last bits on the inside of the rim where your view is obscured of the finished look anyways

Is this with a used can or brand new? I've never had that problem. I know that when I'm finished with a project and still have some paint left I always tip the can upside down and spray anything out of the nozzle

Anyone have experience spraying this over less than awesome paint? My clearcoat is peeling in a couple spots and I am unsure what to do. Does the prep spray strip wax? What is it composed of? Would you all recommend waxing my car before applying any plasti-dip?

It is a blaze yellow (butter yellow) bugeye sedan, I think the black plasti-dip will look pretty sharp on a few highlights.

Chunks happened for me on an old can, I let it warm up a bit and it was fine.

I highly advice getting one of these. These make spraying easier and comes out smoother. Makes plasti dipping so much easier.

+1 they sell them at Walmart for like $5.
Also the problems with 'chunks' coming out may have to do with the temperature you're shooting in. I didn't have problems when I canned my friends cat with him but I could see how the cold temps may make the aerosol cans suck. Also, try to hold the wheels straight up so the can is held upright while spraying.

Yup. I just sprayed my winter wheels last week with plastidip and I was getting the chunks. Used a hair dryer to warm the can up a bit and it was 100% better.
