Default Added weight with STI 6mt wrx swap!

Hello,

I’ve been considering swapping my wrx drivetrain out for that from an 04 Sti. I know the STI drivetrain is quite abit heavier. I’m worried that the car will feel bogged down. Do any of the people who have swapped their wrxs have anything to say about how the car felt after the swap?

My car is relatively stock.

What is the weight difference 100lbs maybe 200lbs at most?

I personally haven't done the swap but I'd imagine all you need to do to answer your question is get 1 or 2 friends to sit in the car and see how the car feels with the added weight.

You won't notice the difference.

I didn't notice a difference. Wait, I did. I noticed that I don't think about my trans blowing up any more.

I thought about going this route as I know they are typically around the same price, but I wasn't able to find anyone locally that would rebuild my 5 speed in a timely manner. The one shop that said they would do it told me I could drop it off over the winter when they would have enough time. So I went with a 6 speed.

Last time I checked out this whole process, the price was not even close.

$3000 for a used 6MT in good condition

$7500 for a fully rebuilt 5MT w/PPG gears.
- No real benefit for PPG gears except to say you have PPG gears.
