Work under the dash board lately??? Well maybe I can help you. I was working under the dashboard once and I hit the wire that goes into the bach of the instrument panel case to the speedometer. Well, I didn't relly notice I did. I had the same problem you do, abdout a week later I got under the dash board, and used some hand/eye coordination and felt a cable that was only partially attachet into its socket. Maybe this will help you. It is up there. It has the thickness of about a TV cable.

Um just yesterday when i was reversing the speedo went ape. It bounced up towards 100 and then came back down to 10 which is what i was going. Is this something normal cuz i changed from a forward gear to a reverse gear or is this something a little more serious.

Max, you may be right cause i took it apart and....when i pull the consol forward, then it was normal, but when i pushed it back it was all screwy, I hope i don't have to get this fixed, problem is, i haven't been under there in like 7 months...hmmmm

I have the same problem too after installing and removing the color plastic thingy that didn't work from Bankheist and ..forgot the other person. It did work but wasn't as colorful or bright or...anyway, they're out.

Now both my rpm and speed jumps. Only a little though but it's annoying nontheless. The rpm really sits idle at 3200rpm after 1st gear. It comes down fine but has a hard time going past it. The speed...well, it's hard for the needle to past the 0-10mph but after that it's alright. Both needles don't move too smoothly I might add.

I can live with it though, but that rpm is kinda dangerous when you're playing loud music and forget to change gears That sucks bad I tell you.

Obviously you have found your problem, but this does bring to mind a question I have.
Does anyone know if the speedo pickup is located in the tranny? Or is it something else?
Reason I ask is because on my Volkswagen my needle started to jump around like that, and turns out the speedo-drive gear in the tranny was missing some teeth. Had to get the whole thing yanked just to fix the speedo.
Just wondering if anyone knows.

Chances are that your speedo wire is loose somewhere and vibratng. That causes the needle to jump around.
