Odyssey PC608 vs PC1400T?
Time for a new battery. Are Optima still quality products? It seems like that people generally arent too satisfied with this brand nowadays.
OEM batt is supposedly junk. Considering an Odyssey now. On RSD and Subimods, the PC680 seems to be the only option available. However, Odyssey website battery search shows the much larger 35-PC1400T is specific for the WRX/STi. The PC1400T is more than double the price of the PC680 and almost double the weight of the OEM batt at 50LB! Much powerful than the PC680 as well. *15 STi Limited *Hardwired fuel pump *Blackvue dash cam parking mode *Weather rarely drops below 0F in the winter Any real reason to go with one over the other? Or should I just warranty the OEM batt? http://www.odysseybattery.com/extrem...ery_specs.aspx

I went with a pc1200.
I travel a lot, so my car needs to be able to sit at the airport & then still start when it's -20f. I've had it sit for over 3 months & it had no problems cranking right up. I was considering the smaller pc680, but glad I went with the larger one. |

I'm running the PC925 battery but I have it mounted in the trunk. My car (03 WRX) is a daily driver, FWIW.
The only issue I've had was during a holiday weekend when I didn't start it for about 4 days. It was below freezing for most of that time and I was parked outside (I usually park in the garage). Had I thought about it I would have hit my battery disconnect switch but it fired up, although it cranked slower than usual. Other than that, I've had no other issues. I also thought about going with the PC680 but I am glad I didn't. If you get an AGM battery and plan on mounting it in the stock location, I would consider getting one with a heat shield (I think Odessey marks them with a "T" at the end of the model #) as the engine heat can shorten the life of these batteries. |

Excellent timing on this thread. I just noticed my battery was from 2010! Went with a 680MJ since being in the deep south there is no such thing as winter. Probably how I got away with the old battery for so long. Now back to reading about replacement terminals.
