Newest update:

A few things added and done to the beast today

1. Upgraded to steel break lines (Goodridge FMVSS 106)

2. Changed brake fluid (Stoptech STR 660 DOT 4)

3. Swapped older Hawk pads in the rear to Hawk 5.0
(Now front and back are the same)

4. Rotated and balanced tires

First swapped the hawk pads in the rear.
Then drained the brake fluid
Added new brake lines
Bled the brakes for air to be removed
Rotated and balanced tires

For sure an improvement. I was waiting to add the brake lines for some time. Stronger braking than before, especially having the master cylinder brace.

Met a fellow CVT WRX as he arrived to change his engine oil. Gave him information about my NASIOC thread as well as the facebook CVT pages.

Wow, just finally made it through the thread dating back to early 2014. What a journey and wealth of information you and your brother (and many others) have provided - fantastic work!

I have been a longtime Subie enthusiast and decided to go CVT this time around, and now have 2 including our '15 FXT. Leveraging the knowledge in this thread I am both much more confident and excited about how to proceed against my goals. As well, you have opened a lot of eyes to many subtle but impactful mods - thank you!!

With that, I am teeing up a Mishimoto cooler in bypass mode and an AOS system - I want to run the AOS as opposed to just a catch can methodology, are there any you or others would specifically recommend...Perrin or Crawford?

My goal is to eventually get to stage 2, but echo the comments you have made many times in build slowly and purposefully so will look forward to a stage 1 protune for my next step.

Also very interested in helping with monitoring temps and providing the data to the community, but having problems finding the same apps for iOS - are the recommended ones available for iPhone? What would the preferred set up be if not?

Thanks again for all the thoughtful work and contributions!

Glad you enjoyed the thread. It was a long and fun journey since early 2014. Now the beast is doing well at stage 2 contrary to the usual opinion out there for these cvts

For AOS Crawford is a nice one. I use mishimoto catch can syatem

For btssm and torque pro I have to say iOS does not have such good support. You will have to purchase an android running device. Many are rather cheap like the Samsung 7 inch tablet etc. Soon I will have a video up about how to use tactrix open port 2.0 and btssm app. That is the superior setup for monitoring of the car and cvt temps. Torque pro is great too with obdlink lx but not as close to the exceptional performance of btssm and tactrix combo.

Good luck. Feel free to pm me for more info here or join the Subaru CVT owners group on facebook

They are coming. Most in the car prep for baby department.

I have also tested the secret intake filter and will do more tests soon before I can give my final review.

Overall the car is running great and is holding up well. Love this car

Question CVT Torque Converter Upgrade

Hi Bellipoten,

Would you be able to give some more detailed insight about the F1 CVT Torque Converter Upgrade?

Looking to do this modification however being in Los Angeles, California I wouldn't have AMR close by so making tweaks and tunes won't come as easily.

Can you also recommend any other specific items someone would NEED to upgrade when doing this? The CVT seems to be able to handle the power but doesn't sit above 300HP currently. Wondering if Subaru did this on purpose because of other reasons.

My apologies if I didn't catch all of your comments in the previous 56 pages of thread replies.... You're popular with this dope build.

Feels soooooo good when a package comes from Japan... on top of that the package itself is from Subaru...

Some stuff for Bellipotens 2

The STI Performance top item is a medium black crate from STI that I will put all my stuff acquired from Subaru of Japan during my time in Tokyo.

The smaller box is the Subaru coffee cup set with wrench spoons

Two Blue Subaru Towels (one for me and one for brother Perscitus)

Rest is for Bellipotens 2 (Swaddle, Robe, Bib x2)

Hey Bellipotens, I wanted to thank you for all the super info you've provided on this page and also the FB page you set up. Truly a great resource.

Sad to say but I am moving on from the CVT. :-(

I will still subscribe to the thread as I love the posts.

That being said, there are some parts I need to find a new home for so please feel free to check them out.

1. Winter tires/wheels setup
2. Grimmspeed EBCS
3. Mishi J-pipe
4. Morimoto Elite HIDs H11, 5K

Any questions feel free to PM me!

I've been rather quiet lately. Bellipotens 2 has taken up a lot of my time and the beast moved to a new location in NYC.

I did add a baby sticker for Bellipotens 2 onto the beast... I had to get this one in blue to match the blue DIT emblem. I love it!

Stage 2 WRX is doing well. In March will hit 4 years!! I cannot believe it. Runs well and the last blackstone oil report said I have a great engine by the looks of the number. Make sure to do your maintenance!

Still I am strongly supporting cooling the cvt and monitoring CVT temps with either torque pro app (with the activeobd plugin) and obdLink LX or the superior but harder to setup btssm app and the lightning fast tactrix openport 2.0.

Love to drive around with my brother.
Bellipotens and Perscitus taking over Long Island, NY!

Bellipotens 2 now has two awesome cars to choose from.
Loves to be in the car and gets grumpy when we stop at the red light. Likes both cars but he actually likes the sound of my brothers Raptor headerback 3.6R more... haha!

Hi Bellipotens,

Can you provide more detail with regards to bypassing stock cooler with the Mishimoto CVT cooler? More specifically, how is everything hooked up together?

Easiest way is just exclude it from the equation. It's as simple as that.

The stock cooler had three lines. One to heat up from the coolant, and of course the two lines from the transmission.

Make sure to have some rag or towel to prevent cvt fluid leaking out when you unplug the stock cooler lines.

Now all you do is plug the two transmission lines directly into the Mishimoto cooler. Just watch the Mishimoto install video to get a general idea. I forget which side is supposed to have the the inlet and outlet.

The two lines that are attached to the stock cooler can hang around and be ziptied to hold in place.

If you need more info etc just pm me.

Hope this 6am summary of install was somewhat meaningful to you. Good luck

Recently performed the Alternator output/duty control by ECU disable mod. Couples well with the ALT-S fuse mod and keeps the battery charging voltage up in the range preferred by AGM, Lithium and various other *-Ion batteries.

21 minute driving logs, 50Hz sampling rate (with 30 odd other fields aside from Battery V) showing before and after with some analysis and commentary.

Before = stock wiring config + ALT-S fuse mod (raised average output voltage by ~0.4-0.6V vs. bone stock setup)
After = ALT-S fuse mod + Alternator duty cycle ECU control disable
