Default E85 results are in from Goodspeed! :)

Dropped the car off at Goodspeed last weekend to finally have them throw an E85 and 91 tune on my car since I finally put enough break-in miles on the motor. Got on the phone with Joe last night to get some results.

With our lovely 91 here, the car didn't make power for crap, especially since I'm not running any meth injection anymore. With seeing IAT's in the 180's...it was left alone at 19psi...ended up only making 354hp. Meh, whatever...it's the middle of summer, and the pump tune is only in case I drive out of town.

Next up was my E85 tune. I didn't expect numbers anywhere near what they turned out to be, but it ended up putting down 465hp and 496 ft/lb at 25psi. Very impressed with the numbers, can't wait to pick it up on Saturday!

Special thanks to Joe, Clark, and the rest of the Goodspeed crew for their awesome work

Sidenote: The chart says I have a DOM 3, but it's actually a DOM 2.5

Nice curve!! This thing must hit like a train! I love seeing E85 graphs....stuff is amazing, even in high temp situations, especially vs 91

Love my e85 map so much that every two weeks I make the drive out to Lubbock to fill up my car and a half dozen gas cans with it

Now just make sure that you guys run a tank of 91 through it now and again. The buildup from e85 is pretty nasty. Maybe every month or two. I'd hate to see a $10,000 motor setup getting messed up.

I agree. And I always suggest pulling your injectors the first couple times you feel you need to run gas thru. That way you can see if it's actually necessary. I was going to run gas on a tank and my injectors were fine, no residue. Maybe it's our blend, but pull them just to be sure.

Agreed on this just as a precaution. On my previous E85 map, I would generally try and run 1 tank of pump gas to every 3 or 4 tanks of E85.

You must not drive a lot? That's pretty excessive...unless of course your E85 is horrible then I would understand. I haven't been on gasoline for 3.5 months (10-12 tanks) and my injectors look like I just installed them. Maybe we have an elite blend

It's not the injectors that get built up. They will look new for years. It's the intake runners in the heads that get the tar-like build up. e85 will not remove this tar. Gasoline cuts through it like butter.

I've put a mere 3,000 miles on my STi this year, lol. Its a Friday, Saturday, Sunday kind of a car. My DD I purchased in March has had 12,xxx miles put on it so far. I drive a lot, just not in the STi, haha.

I plan on getting my E85 from Tom's Thumb in North Scottsdale since it's right up the street from me. Not forgetting to mention, their food there is phenomenal which makes going there even better.

Congrats on the numbers. Thats lot more then my set up made the last time it was tuned there.

I was under 400whp.

Does e85 always make the power fall up top. not really messed with the stuff much.

I ran e85 for 1.5 years straight, no gas at all, my car is daily driven as well. The motor developed a really bad hot start issue and eventually I thought it had broken a piston so I pulled it and swapped in a jdm spec-c motor. While tearing down the old ej205 I found the pistons had more than 1/8" of hard carbon buildup on the tops and because of the increased height the valves had hit the pistons and bent slightly making them seat poorly and causing the hot start issue.

I believe the carbon buildup is due to e85 having lower combustion temperatures so you never end up burning off the pistons and the soot just keeps building up. I also had some sticky goo on the intake ports but it was not too bad, it seems to be worse with AVCS since you get some exhaust reversion so soot gets stuck on the goo. I run a tank or 2 of gas for every 5-6 tanks of e85 and there is a noticeable improvement in how the motor feels after the first 50-100 miles on gas. The car starts easier, feels more responsive, gets better mileage and pulls harder.

I am going to get a bore scope to keep an eye out for carbon buildup when I change sparkplugs every 6 months or so since AVCS puts the valves even closer to the pistons. Cheap insurance for my 207 investment.

No it's not E85 that does this. His 91oct plot did the same thing.

It's falling off because of my turbo, it is absolutely maxed out. I am out of air, hence why it tapers off so badly.

Still have the house in Anthem, but I practically live with the girlfriend now.

Yup, as mentioned above, my turbo has reached it's limits.

Very nice, thinking seriously about e85 myself. here's a video that about what the public doesn't know about alcohol. It really is a sustainable alternative fuel, mainstream media has kept guys like this off public radar.

my car has run e85 for the last 20k miles. no problems that I know of.
I just switched it back to 91 (I just bought it) because I dont have an e85 station on my way to work. I will run a tank of e85 through a couple times a year but I will mostly run 91 octane.

do you all know if there are any consequences to the fuel lines or system running e85 in the long term? rubber fuel line degrading? pump issues?

Interesting, I ran e85 for about 12k miles and when my motor popped, there wasn't much carbon buildup. I'm wondering if maybe you were getting some rich conditions during part throttle. Wouldn't surprise me if that was where the problem was coming from, since it is a daily driven vehicle.

Back on topic, those are some really nice numbers. Very similar to the power I put down with a Dom 3 and stock heads.
