Default Rain Guards/Visors (Bayson R)... is the fittment really this bad, or is this normal?

So I unpacked and 'test fit' a set of Bayson R rain visors to my 02 wrx today and... they appear to be either in need of serious bending in order to make fit the window trim, or are for a completely different car. Moreover, the front bracket that attaches under the window insulator trim cannot possibly mount in a location where I'd even be able to attach and bend the the visor to fit properly. (If you have installed these or JDM visors, you'll know what I mean).

Questions: Is it normal to really have to shape/bend the visors to fit the window lines, for either the Bayson's or for JDMs? Has anyone experienced not having a hole for the front screw in bracket in an appropriate area? Since I'm the first person it seems who has run into this problem with their product, I feel like they must have sent me the wrong ones...

I'll have pics up shortly, as soon as I figure out why the media card they are on is crashing explorer (this is literally representative of my whole day )

When I got mine, they fit perfectly. I think you just got some that are warped. Just contact basonR and exchange them, don't think they would have a problem.

^ Perhaps, but these really don't even look like they're meant for a GD. Here are some pictures of what I mean. This is the best I could do (without any bending) of lining this thing up, and it sticks out and up quite a bit on the front and rear.

I don't see ANY way I can line the bracket up in the front. I'd have to drill and tap a new hole from what I see.

i just got this same set last week for my 02 and they fit perfectly....

i did remember that the front part and the rear part stuck up a little bit but the clip pulled it down into place.

also, the double sided tape helped put it all in place. i just followed the top of the rain channel. the screws that are already there line up exactly with the holes in the visor.
the front screw pictured in your last pic is the screw that holds the one larger clip. the top of that clip snaps in to the groove on the guard. the small notch on the guard all the way in the front (that protrudes down) gets held down by the smallest clip provided.

good luck man.

^ Thanks for the input! It was raining today so I didn't take a perfectly close look at the fitment, although I'll definitely go back as soon as the weather clears up.

Also, when you say the front screw, do you mean the one closest to the front of the car, or the second one higher up? Edit: if you do mean the front most/lowest one, there is no single chance this is for the Impreza--it has to sit at a 25* angle leaning forward to get the bracket fit with the lowest most screw there. Double edit: Or I'm reading the directions wrong, but I'll get back when I can actually take more than a five minute look at the setup..

^^^^^that hole is not for that screw. I just checked my visors, looks the same. Plus you have to bend the visor down lil bit to fit properly. believe me, that double side sticky tape will hold the visor in place for sure

Not too worried about the stick tape, I've worked wonders with the 3m stuff before, but just whether or not I can actually mold the thing to the window trim. I assume at this point I read something wrong, in which case I'll be

I would contact Bayson R if you have concerns about the fitment. When I installed mine awhile back, I didn't have any issues and did have to read the instructions a couple of times. Btw, are the instructions in JP or ENG? I remember getting mine with JP ones and had to search for the ENG version on here or somewhere.

OP -- did you get these visors to fit? I am looking for a set and can't justify the cost of JDM's. Thanks!

I looked at my OEM rain visors, and the rears also stick up/out a bit straight.

Looking at your pictures, and if these replica visors are effectively the same as the OEM pieces, it appears that the visor has to go a bit more forward, which would effectively take care of the rear section.

I looked at mine and basically if you follow the arc of the top of the rear glass, you continue that line to the door. Where that invisible line ends is where the rear of the visor should also end.

Also as I recall, I also had to effectively 'finesse' the front into place as well. Meaning the visor at the front section was not a 100% fit.

If the kit did not come with a preparation wipe, I suggest getting some denatured alcohol to clean and treat the existing black molding before installing the visor.

Also, use some painter's tape and lay it down on both ends to have a guide for yourself.

When you do install the visor, I suggest starting at the back and working your way forward. I would peel back the protective tape starting at the rear section by only a little. Then as you work your way forward, you start to peel the protective tape. In this manner, you can slowly apply the double-sided tape/visor to the car and also install any mounting clips, so that you don't try to do this in "one shot". In this manner, you will have some "play" or "working room" and don't end up with problems during the install.

Good luck!

Forgot to update this one!

I did get them to fit, the brackets fit and all, the instructions were just difficult to see/read.

I did have to bend the front down a lot to get it to line up with the window trim, as well as the back (which ended up not quite fitting 100% perfectly flush with the trim, there just isn't much to bend there). They were pretty straight and didn't really resemble the shape of the window lines without some good elbow grease. Until I actually dove in and stuck them down, they looked like the wrong product!

Since it sounds like the real ones may fit similarly, I wouldn't judge them on fitment (yet). My only other grievance are the unclean mold lines in the center of each, though these are hard to see. Not a bad product overall, especially for the price. They do look identical to the OEM ones provided you take your time seating them correctly.
